RE: The New Bronco - Unlike The Bronco Of The Past

in #cars8 years ago

Ford has always been the king of rehash/rename, and sell. Remember the Bronco II? It was hated by the majority, and received negative press due to a safety issue with the rear suspension. So what happened? Nothing much. Ford just revamped it a bit, stretched it, and slapped a new cool sounding name on it and boom the Explorer was born. First gen explorers sold like hot cakes. It was basically the Bronco II with some updates. Same platform. When Ford discontinued the Ranger, they also discontinued the beloved Explorer as well, because it was based on the same platform. So they just slapped the Explorer badge on a new fwd platform that underpins the Taurus, and that is basically what the current explorer is. A jacked up Taurus. Now Ford will bring back the Ranger/Explorer platform only revamped a bit to meet current regulations, and fit their current powertrains, and technological updates. The difference? It will be called Bronco. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
