The New Bronco - Unlike The Bronco Of The Past

in #cars8 years ago

When I first heard about the Bronco returning, I was very excited, but that has changed now.

Ford has said there is no market for a 2 door SUV, so that means the new Bronco will likely have 4 doors. This also likely means that the return of the Bronco will likely be short lived, because Ford already has several different 4 door SUVs and the Bronco will likely go head to head with the Explorer.

Look how badass it looks with 2 doors

Unless Ford bases the Bronco on the existing Raptor platform, which is what Ford should do anyways, since they want to compete with the Jeep Wrangler. If Ford does this they should at least offer a 2 door version, like they do with the Raptor.

I've always loved the Bronco, but to me it should be a 2 door, like the Broncos of the past. I'm sure it will still be successful, I felt the same way about the Charger when it came out of retirement with 2 additional doors, but I've grown to like it.

Are you excited about the new Bronco, and do you think Ford should stay with tradition and make it a 2 door?

... and the insurance can buy me that flash new Bronco ;)

Is it gonna be pink too?

... if I let the wife choose - probably yes ;(

Well at least its still a sweet SUV lol

I see the new Bronco completing more with Jeeps and be an alternative to the FJ which is being canceled. Now with that said, I can't see this being built under SVT or Ford Motorsport or what ever their calling it these days.

I think so too, and I'm sure Ford has looked at the Wranglers sales to see if a two door is worth it. They have the platform already with the Raptor, so it shouldn't take much as far as design goes.

I remember when I bought my Ford Raptor, you could only get them in the 2dr. It wasn't a month after I got my Raptor when undercover photos of the 4dr started popping up all over the net. All the Raptor owners then made fun of the 4dr and said it wouldn't sale. The 4dr easily out sales the 2dr these days. That is probably where Ford is basing their decision about the 2dr. Anyhow, they could easily target the Wranglers with the 2drs and the 4drs could target the Cherokee.

Yea, I mainly want a two door, because of the shorter wheelbase and better off road capabilities.

Ya, it's needs to be like the original 1960's Bronco, short, narrow, and off road capable.

4 doors would tarnish the history of the bronco! If they want to bring it back, I wish they would keep things nastalgic

Thats how I feel. I still dunno what Dodge was thinking.

My friend has this 2 say about 2 doors car. It's a car that discourage mother in law. Anyway, we don't get many Fords on a road.

Well that's one way to look at it lol. They are everywhere here.

If they bring back the Bronco looking like that with 2 doors they have a new potential customer! That looks kick ass!!

I think it looks pretty sweet too!

I like it, it looks badass :D
However I think it will cost a fortune to buy one in Denmark

Probably, it will likely be more expensive than the average SUV

I will never ever again in my life have a two door vehicle that has more than 2 seats. Hahah. We had a Cougar and it was a two door. It was so hard getting my dog in and out of the back. haha. I can't imagine how parents do it with their kids and car seats!

I've never been a HUGE fan of Fords, but if the Broncos come out looking like the picture you posted, I will definitely drool over them a bit! Hahah.

I don't mind having 2 doors, as long as its a hatchback, or SUV. I have owned about everything at some point, and I have had good luck out of Fords.

Ford has always been the king of rehash/rename, and sell. Remember the Bronco II? It was hated by the majority, and received negative press due to a safety issue with the rear suspension. So what happened? Nothing much. Ford just revamped it a bit, stretched it, and slapped a new cool sounding name on it and boom the Explorer was born. First gen explorers sold like hot cakes. It was basically the Bronco II with some updates. Same platform. When Ford discontinued the Ranger, they also discontinued the beloved Explorer as well, because it was based on the same platform. So they just slapped the Explorer badge on a new fwd platform that underpins the Taurus, and that is basically what the current explorer is. A jacked up Taurus. Now Ford will bring back the Ranger/Explorer platform only revamped a bit to meet current regulations, and fit their current powertrains, and technological updates. The difference? It will be called Bronco. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Well said.... we all wanted a two-door.

Yea, Ford should stay with tradition, at least give us the option.
