What a trip!
We had a Land Rover for a few years. So comfortable, and we never found a road in New England that it couldn't handle. I loved that the owner's manual was full of advice like: "Don't drive in water deeper than the running boards. But if you do, put a tarp over the grille and attach a snorkel to the exhaust."
Unfortunately the gas mileage was killer. And when it was going to cost $1200 to replace a spark plug (they're mounted on the bottom of the engine, which has to be lifted out of the car) we decided it was time to get something more practical.
Indeed they are expensive and slurp a lot of fuel. What car do you have now?
Just about the opposite: A Toyota Prius!
Love it, though. 50+ MPG and still pretty good in the snow.
Its a more practical car indeed, the 7 years of warranty are always a good pluspoint
