I suppose it's because I have seldom not had one or more of them for company since I was born. Horses would be next on the list, but there are big gaps without the horses. I've only ever had one as a next door neighbor for about 15 months when I was a caretaker in a stable. Cats have been a household mainstay for all but a few years of my life. " Life without cats?
