Not even 1% of the world population has the ability to code their own front-end. This is not how we become mainstream.
That is true, having hidden algorithms makes it (much) easier to combat bad actors in a social network, but it doesn't mean it's a lost cause for the good guys. The one real solution is community control (downvotes that give rewards for example). Domain-layer control should only be used to prevent legal issue for the domain owner (court orders, copyrighted contents)
