What's Up STACKERS!
When people get on "Social Media", they tend to have a very hard time getting the attention that they need to promote themselves. With all the noise out there, you need to start "stand out" from the rest and having a brand is a must.
I created my brand @stackin about 10+ years ago, it was just a "word" I always used to display to keep "getting bigger" in anything I did and made it into my own philosophy. It's pretty crazy how the name "STACKIN" has exploded in my life. Every time when I meet people in huge conventions or big meetups, they all come to me and say, "Hey, you're that "STACKIN" dude that I see all over Social Media, you're popular". 🤣
So is creating a "Brand" important on Social Media? In my book yes it is! It's a great way to get your name out their and it helps keep people remembering who you are. So do you guys have a Brand? If not, you are missing out big time in my book.

A lot of people who join Steemit don't know how to brand themselves. Hell I didn't do it as well when I first started and I do marketing and branding for a living!
It all changed when I read your how to become a dolphin post and realize the need to brand myself, take the message and content of my post up a notch and network like crazy.
And although at almost 6 months I am not a dolphin yet but my goal is set and I am growing up and keep stackin that SP.

I have gone back and fourth on this myself. I ended up going with my middle name, JAQUITH.... It used to be a last name, now all the males in my family have the same middle name... My son is the last one to carry on the name though... I hope he has a son:-)

So true about getting a good brand name. It took me a long time to come up with cooknbake. But it doesnt end there, of course, You also need to know how to promote yourself and be out there as much as you can on order to have your brand to be popular🤗

Meanwhile I like that artwork in your picture.That is true @STACKIN, but in my little knowledge in business branding, I think you would want to build a brand with must be short, easy to pronoun and remember, eg; STACKIN, Lol. Imagine me using my real name like NTEOBONG, you won't even want to remember that a second time. I love your point though.

A good question to ask ourselves. I expected my answer to be straightforward, but I'm going back and forth with myself about it. :)
My username here is my actual name. My profile has my full name on it. I intentionally chose to represent myself as myself with this account. The goal is to be as authentic as I can so that the relationships I build here are based on who I truly am. Repelling is just as important as attracting and if people aren't digging me they can move along. I won't have to try to guess what to do to keep followers or engagement.
On the other hand, I've been working to build a brand that is not based on my name. I try to keep that more neutral and professional.
I feel like I can have both but it's best for me to keep them separate. That way I don't have to worry about my quirkiness contaminating my business branding and I have a channel for somewhat unfiltered self-expression.

Very good points I tried to brand myself with just my name and its not catching on going to have to look internal a bit for what might be a good name to go with. Stackin fits you very well though KEEP STACKIN!!

I think any can do. It all depends on how you package and brand youself.
It has worked both ways for some people.
Although a brand is much better because you can delegate work to other people to manage it and you can pass it on to someone as inheritance etc.
When you die, if your brand revolves around your name then thats the end of that.Your name cannot be inherited. I hope that makes sense, keep on stackin!!You are the real MVP & a motivating factor to me @stackin

Branding is important and using something memorable is smart because it increases your visibility!
Just like me wearing sunglasses indoors is a brand in itself hahaha
Branding ourselves creates a legacy that even our children and grand children may earn a living from it. For example, the likes of Zig Ziglar, Jim Ron,these guys' names still exist on allover social media platforms eventhoughy their spiritual bodies nolonger exist. You just named the "Big Dogs", it took them a lifetime to create their own brand and it was well worth it. Jim Rohn is Beast!
A single word even if you make it up is easier to remember. A longer name is harder to remember and also easier to find a domain name if your going to set up a website.
