RE: WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT? (SERIES 4)

in #christian-trail7 years ago

If you're saved you're automatically filled with the Holy Spirit in proportion to your spiritual maturity. You must voluntarily accept Christ but you don't have to accept the Holy Spirit in order to have it.

(Ephesians 1:13-14 NIV) And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, {14} who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.

Yes, the work of the Holy Spirit in life of the believer is something that is often misunderstood. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin. He intercedes with God for us. He helps us understand biblical truth.

The gift of tongues is also often misunderstood. Pentecostals believe that speaking in tongues is a sign that you're saved but that's not true. Their churches are filled with people who babble, who fake it, in order to appear spiritual. If you're speaking in tongues you're speaking an actual language. I was in a church where a singer sang a hymn in Spanish and said afterwards that he doesn't know Spanish so his singing was the work of the Holy Spirit for the benefit of those that understand Spanish.

Satan can't prevent anyone from receiving the Holy Spirit.
