RE: ROMANS 8:11 - READ A BIBLE VERSE DAILY

in #christian-trails7 years ago (edited)

When I first read this verse something in particular jumped out at me. In regards to the NIV version, it reads, "...because of His Spirit who lives in you." Now this might seem a little odd, but I felt myself being drawn to the word 'who'. If I would've wrote this myself, I would've said, "...because of His Spirit which lives in you." I thought to myself, "Why would I have said it that way?" As a writer, I often ponder word choice. But I realized that for whatever reason I was identifying the word Spirit as a thing, hence the need for the use of the word which. Yet, the reality of the Spirit of God is that the Spirit is in fact God, and therefore needs to be a who. How radical is this? The Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, dwells inside of God and is God, and yet at the same time is something separate, such as Jesus says, "The Comforter will come..." Jesus does not say the Father will come. And yet the Spirit dwells in the Father still!

Understand that as confusing as this sounds, I did not feel confused. Instead I felt awed at the wonder of it all, at the intricate beauty, at the inability of my mind to comprehend, in spite of my soul feeling something, something I can't really describe.

Anyways, thank you for the post. It encouraged me to say something.
