Balmy Bangkok - @juliank @photocontest

The canals or khlongs as they are called here are lined with gorgeous but simple wooden homes. The canals provide safety from flooding, transport routes and sadly, sewerage. But what a gorgeous place to live.

Yeah it really a georgouse place to live. Having this whole idea that you living on water is quite interesting. Sometimes I wonder how they easily move from one location to the other without the canoe or a boat
We have similar location in my country in the Niger delta region

Sadly, the majority of these homes, which form communities, are under threat. Despite being there for decades, generations, they are almost without exception built on and over land belonging to others, and thousands are scheduled for destruction by the BMA. I live on Klong Prem Partchakon in the Lak Si District of Bangkok, and I love the community here. But times are changing, and sadly, those with the least power will have the least influence over the future of their own lives.
