About 2 years ago, as I was walking along the Singapore River one dark night, I passed The Float @ Marina Bay, a sports stadium and event stage floating just off shore.
The entire float was covered with these brilliant lighted figures. The surrounding water was dark. The night sky was black and starless, and the only other lights were those in the skyscrapers in the central business district in the background.
I never learned what this was or what it's purpose was. Maybe it was nothing more than an installation of vivid lights to brighten the night. Whatever it was, it was rather interesting and very beautiful. This is my entry in the ColourfulPhotography contest by @juliank.

"I never learned what this was or what it's purpose was"
You describe my life in Thailand beautifully. I've learned to be very happy while knowing nothing at all.
I came by to see what's up over here. So many lovely photos, and I'm so glad to see the Prefix posts coming. You are really doing a good service to those who struggle with this crazy language.
I need to get @blxphabet over here to pay attention to those. This is just the type of thing he likes. When he can be a know-it-all - he is very happy. But right now - just posting and learning steemit skills has him stretched to the limit.
Re @blxphabet's "paying attention" to my education posts, it brings to mind the old saying, "When the student is ready, the teacher appears on the scene."
In his case, we might change it to say, "When the student is ready, he'll start studying / learning more." That is / was so true in my case.
And I hope he keeps learning whatever he needs / wants to know. One great thing about getting educated and becoming a true and honest "know-it-all" is that one no longer has to look to one's ego for assurance. Instead, S/He can rely on factual knowledge to make a better life and better relationships. And hopefully s/he can do so with a fine balance of pride and humility.
Anyway, I hope your life in Thailand continues to be interesting and blissful.
Your description of the picture is so lucid that I wonder why there is even a need for an accompanying picture. However, I like the way the colourful lights sit brilliantly in the distance like spectators watching a football match. Good luck in the contest.
Hmm, I guess I could just delete the photo, but .... I'll leave it in, as a bonus to all those who actually "read" my post.
Thanks always for your input.
Hahaha it's my pleasure. Always a pleasure to see your writings and shots.
I love how the colors light up the place and how the lights look like they're dancing. It's superb. ^^
Now I see this colorful pictures and stunning brightened up city, I feel a little bit regret that I skipped Singapore! It is maybe the most unique city in south east asia! Maybe I should stop over there before going back to the Netherlands! Did you went already to Amsterdam?
I think Singapore not really a great vacations spot: it's expensive, and it's a city.
But it is a great place to live, and a great place to pass thru. It's very green, very clean, very safe, with plenty to see and do. Great food, too!
I visited Amsterdam a looooooong time ago. My parents are Dutch, so when I went to Europe, I included Amsterdam, Delft, and a few other places. It was great, and even tho I was born in Canada, I felt a bit at home in the Netherlands.
It would not be so bad to spend a day or three in a clean, organized city after a year in dirty countrys! But for other Dutchies I would better recommend the islands in Asia.
Cool to hear you like my country! Maybe some day you feel like moving back to your roots :p
I've occasionally thought about it. Canada is a great country, and SE Asia's a good place to live, but the Netherlands is in a class of its own.
Yeah the government is very good and caring about the people, it is clean, organized and I think even Amsterdam feels like a little town. But when I heat the story, I think Canada is better. However, Philippines beats everything! Where do you live in Thailand?
I live in Chiang Mai. It's okay, but the air is sometimes a bit polluted. Why do you say that the Philippines beats everything? Is it that great? I've travelled there twice, and really enjoyed it, but I know there is quite a bit of severe poverty. And corruption.
But maybe things are changing with Duterte. All of my Filipino friends support(ed) him completely.
I heard a lot of things are changed with his help. There are many bad stories but I know many government people and they don't look corrupt. I have been here for 8 months now, and I love the beaches, the nature but I love the people even more. Filipinos all speak english and they are so hospitable. You only have to go to the beach on sunday and the change is so big a local will invite you for lunch! This people are definitely hospitable.
Before I went to Thailand, but to be honest, I did not make so many local friends so it is difficult to judge about the country. The food is amazing tho!
Chiang mai is actually my favorite city in thailand! I love the city centre squire, not too much traffic and it is a cheap city too! How long have you been living there and how did you end up there?
Nice color riot... Beautiful. This picture reminds me of the movie transformer.... The lights in the skyscrapers some look like 👀 On the transformers. Lol
Doh! I should have used that great phrase "color riot" in my photo description.
Too late, I guess, but ... thanks for adding that phrase to my post.

I think Singapore likes colorful lights.
I was there last December, they very colorful Christmas decorations. What month did you went there?
Month?!? January -- December, for over 5 years. 😊 I lived and worked there, from May 2012 to July 2017. A great place to live and work.
Oh okay... I don’t think I can afford to stay there that long... it’s too expensive for me 😂 We just passed by there on the way to Myanmar.
Ya, it's very expensive. As soon as my job was finished, I left.
Whatever it was, it was beautiful and makes a good entry for the colorful photo contest now :)
Indeed. When I took the photo, I did not expect it to earn a few dollars on Steemit.
Yeah, happened to me too with some random shots :) Btw, I decided to hold my first photo contest too, feel free to join ;) The theme is natural photography and as far as I remember, you had some nice landscape photos that might do well there.
A good capture..! 👌
Singapore is a country of lighting and glowing stars..! 🌟
