Here's my entry in this weeks Colorful Photography contest hosted by @juliank.
Neon Dreams
I shot this photo last week in Jordan, Hong Kong, just as the sun was setting and the lights of the city were just starting to turn on. If you've ever been here you'd know that HK's streets are filled with illuminated signs of all shapes and sizes, with neon being the predominant choice of many.
Unfortunately these signs are on the decline after the HK government started imposing more stringent health and safety regulations throughout the city, with many of the old classics being taken down as a result.
Luckily, however, I still know where to find many of the old ones which survived the government's 'Neon crackdown'.
So, if any of you Steemian shutterbugs ever find yourselves coming out to HK for a holiday, business, or whatever, give me a heads up and I'll gladly take you on a tour of some of the more 'juicy' parts of town for this kind of stuff, just as long as you buy me a beer 😉
Thanks for dropping by @steemmeupscotty
Nice color... I love the neon web!
"Neon Web" - Love that phrase...stealing it if you don't mind ;)
I think this may be my favorite shot of all of the @photocontests winners! Such a feast for the eyes!!!
Thanks for sharing and congratulations! Upvoted & resteemed.
Thanks so much Samantha :) Comments like yours really do help encourage me to keep snapping away. Steem on!
The pleasure is all mine! Following you and looking forward to seeing more as you keep snapping away!
:) You've got my follow too.
Fantastic news! Now you are encouraging me!!!
Amazing pink colors are in this photo. Really Good!
Thanks man ... I'll have to get out on the streets to capture some more of what hk has to offer ;)
Great signs! So, neon is unhealthy/environmentally bad? I guess living in the country, away from the city, I have not kept up with neon!
Lol - No, the problem was with unsafe structural design, wobbly signs which might fall (they weigh a ton) during high winds, i.e Typhoons. When my granddad lived here in the 60's, serving in the British army, one fell right in front of the car he was driving down Lockhart road, Wanchai. Here's a pic from that era courtesy of google images
Oh! I can see where they could cause problems! As a kid, I remember a rather non descript little downtown church that had a neon cross above the door, and the occasional beer sign in a bar window, but not much neon otherwise! That amount is pretty incredible!
woaaaa, i love it! glad you caught this shot before they totally become a thing of the past!
I think they'll always be around, but not in the freestyle ways of yesteryear :)
Maybe one day they’ll be beamed directly into our brains 😂

Cool - Love Rick and Morty...but..a word of advice...It's not cool to promote your posts on other people's feeds, especially if they're unrelated. Some would downvote you for doing so. Steem on!
heeded...thanks
Wow, the glow that comes off of them is great!
Yeah..these lights come out awesome with a decent camera :)
