I think the grizzly has then one well in hand. They are not afraid of water, move just as well and fast in the water as they do on land, and un like the puny black bear, they are the most excellent fisherman in nature. That grizzlies claws are going to chew right through that tough hide of the hippo like it was nothing but a can of pork and beans, or the rear door of a 63 rambler station wagon. What's the hippo going to fight with, bad breath and farts?
The food that is fed to those animals in the arena is awful.
So I think the winner will be a food bacteria that will eat them from inside and evolve into a xenomorph.

I choose the grizzly, it has a better advantage of the limbs that ends in claws. If it is a water battle , the grizzly is an excellent swimmer. The hippo is doomed

An adult hippo is a formidable animal. It is larger than a grizzly, and it can be mean like a grizzly. Maybe if you equate size, the grizzly would win — sharp teeth and sharp claws. But an adult hippo (not the pygmy ones) is very large and very strong (even when compared to a grizzly). I’d bet on the hippo.

Where is the arena? If on the ground, Grizzly will be lucky. But if in the water, it is definitely Hippo who will win.
The arena is always partially flooded when an aquatic or amphibious combatant is in play. Not too deep, maybe 3 feet or so.
