The ability to earn daily on steemit is a good thing, however this has led to many scammers signing up fake accounts in order to send out massive wallet/post phishing links including scams via our wallet, chat and posts.
Most worryingly, few weeks ago there were steemit clone sites ie Steewit (dot) com or Steelit (dot) com aimed at stealing members login keys and the worrying thing is that they scammed some people before community members found out and reported such activities. The question is, how do we protect fellow members from these issues? Here are some points:
Chat scams: Be careful of people contacting you on steem chat requesting SBD/ Steem for upvote or resteem . If you notice, most do come with names like @good-kama ( notice that it is different to the real @good-karma ie no r) or @kingcrrown (double r) trying to scam me - see my older post : How I Knocked Out Kingscrrown :The Steemit Chat Thief / Scammer.
Wallet scams: do not send sbd for a resteem scam that never work. Reason is that the same account resteems hundreds of posts daily and thus their followers will not pay attention to their resteem.
Post scams: Avoid links sent to you on your posts because some people are sending phishing links. Some even claim that you cheated on your post ie you copied your original post from a certain link (this is to lure you to click the link) . This is one example of their tricky ways –so avoid such links –rather you should flag and report such account to steem abuse.
Conclusion: As a community we should stand together against these scammers by exposing them via our posts, flagging them and reporting them to steem abuse and steemcleaners-. These actions will deter them from growing rapidly and thus destroy this platform with their ruthlessness and greed.

Thanks for this warning. It is time we as community unite against these scammers by exposing their tricks and names on our posts as you just did. They will always come with a new trick however we will not give up . It will be a tough one because they are ruthless---so all should be careful
Yes they ra eindeed ruthless hence why we must be careful
Totally agree . We should stand uniter s d keep reporting spammy activities so we frustrate them out of steemit. Nice update. Upped
I agree, we have to expose them
Yeah, you are right we should be very careful login or joining untrusted website is a risk and we should also keep our private key save from intruders, let be careful login to strangers computer, the scammer full every where.
Very good point, thanks for your comment
I almost get scam yesterday, thanks to the @steemitabuse and @steemitcleaners and many more for their hard work to figure out those scammers
Yes we have great community that helps here ....success to you
WARNING! The comment below by @katekor11 leads to a known phishing site that could steal your account.
Do not open links from users you do not trust. Do not provide your private keys to any third party websites.
Please read the post asap and act accordingly ...it is a post about spam...remove your flag and do a good job with your bot, you and @mack-bot...this post is to warn the community about scam
Please read point #1 here: https://steemit.com/steemcleaners/@anyx/introducing-guard-a-proactive-measure-to-limit-phishing-on-steemit
It's important to avoid accidents by avoiding using the phishing link itself!
The flags are removed, but please understand it's impossible to determine if you're warning or trying to phish, if you're using the link itself.
Thanks!
Thanks for the clarification....
What?! This guy @charles1 has been around this platform for quite a long time now and never posted anything wrong. I think Guard @guard needs to be calibrated. @anyx
Good point....thanks for your comment
@guard and the others also dowbvoted my post where I reported spam yesterday. I think the problem is instead of using .com, edit the site to (dot) com
More so, some bots will even collect ur money and will not upvote saying it's scam. Quite funny.
Funny it is. But the quite annoying kind of funny. Have you raised this issue?
@bikerkiddo
I did and was refunded. You can check it out in my blog.
Issue is you can't filter out high rated members as hacked accounts posting links will become a very serious threat as time moves along. Think about how facebook spam gets sent around once an account is hacked. If a "trusted" account isn't flagged from directing towards a knows spam link then a hacked account increases in value.
I guess the main problem here is not the hacking of accounts, but anti-spam and anti-phishing bots don't exempt links, words and accounts even if they are totally safe. Anything that goes under their radar, whether the content is safe or not, as long as it contains 'words' or content that they deem pose a threat, they mark it as spam.
But...is it still the same thing now? I hope @guard and other bots have been calibrated. Been away from the Steemit world for over a week.
I fixed the flags. The bot works as it was designed. In a previous out break we had reports of at least 2 accounts stolen when someone accidentally opened a clickable link in a post warning others. Some browsers, particularly mobile browsers, and browser extensions make domain names without the "http://" clickable links.
In my opinion, right now it is more important to stop the spread even if a few users get accidentally flagged. These phishers have been changing tactics frequently to avoid being flagged. Buying domains costs them money. Adding sub-domains like abc.badlink.com doesn't and I won't be surprised if that is the next step. Specifying
https://www.badlink.com
orhttps://badlink.com
would make the bot ineffective. Thanks for your explanation and understanding...I wish you success my dear @patrice the spam/scam slayer ...more success to you
Good explanation. I hope you do the needful on my own posts too. @patrice
Mine was also flagged yesterday
There is a scam i posted about, earnings are off please help stop these guys. @patrice @charles1 its not phishing but its criminal.
how ironic :( given the title of this post
You are correct...that is the issue we have here...they should read post 1st before commenting or flagging
he didn't read your post obviously. Appreciate it instead make a stupid accusations. He's trying to help all of us :)
Good point, they just flag without reading posts
Yeah seems ...special
This kind of thing is quite common in the network. We must be alert at all times. Thanks for the additional details.
You are correct, I agree...
ah people, what to say... Greedy fucks, aren't capable to earn money with their work, but instead it's easier to take someones hard earned sbd, would beat the shitt out of them
That is the issue we have with greedy people
scammers are faggots
Point
These scammers are modern day avtar of old thugs and bandits. The difference is only in their education and tricks. Modern day thugs are technology expert and have global presence due to which they are difficult to trace. It is good to be alert and be wise. Thank you for providing this valuable information.
You are correct ...weall should be careful. Thanks
Its getting really really tough out here, thanks for the information, I will watch out for these kind of scammers.
Welcome
Mischievous people are everywhere and the internet is not the exception. You do a good job with these articles
Yes they are everywhere and we will expose them
Thank you for the warning. Unfortunately, there are more and more scammers, and newcomer will not know what to look for.
Good point, hopefully many will see the warnings and take note
Wow! This post is succinct, informative and precisely helpful. Thanks, @charles1 for sharing...
These miscreants need to be hushed with practical counter-actions, just as you've suggested in the concluding part of your post:
Point, we have to be careful and spread the news...success
Precisely.
Oh yes, I heard about that too.
We need to be careful.
It is like always. When somewhere something good is growing the wolfs are coming too. Thanks again for this reminder.
You are welcome my buddy...we have to open our eyes and expose them to all via our posts..thanks for your comment
Steem has a rule that your flag is only worth something if you flag someone with a lower reputation than you. There are a lot of scam and spam accounts with higher rep than many legit entry -level steemers.
nice
Good point...however you can flag but be careful not to enter a flag war
Exactly. Fear of retaliation stops the small rule-abiding steemers from flagging larger scam and spam accounts because the smaller will only get get hurt by the bigger but the bigger wont be impacted by the smaller.
Thanks for sharing such a valuable info sir.
Some people comnent and drop links in the account and ask for Transfer of SBP which in turn will upvote u. I sugest to not open their links they are just spammers
Good point. You correct. Thanks for sharing your own thoughts
Yes, most are phishing links..be careful
The post is so knowledgeable about scammers and some fake people who steal other private keys by sending pinishing links but why do few people down voted..? Really whatever you said it's so true really it's happening day after day.. loved the post indeed
Welcome and thanks for your comment
such thieve, so cruel take hard work someone..they not have another job..
Yes we have to be more careful

Dear Charles1,
I recently posted a fraud along with its screenshots.
Being a human being, I am really depressed about the matter that why we people use to earn money by hurting others, I mean frauding. Even there are many useful ways available for earning. These people don't have hearts and kindness for others?
My post is mentioned below
please, check and resteem it as much as possible.
Regards
Hafiz
It is totally against the rule here to send your post links in others comment. Stop such as it's same way spammers operate. Are you one of them?
learn how to comment on people posts to avoid being flagged...sending links is one of them...remove it
oh sorry, charles1. Kenhudoy please be positive.
Charles1, I pasted the link just for the sake of proving. I thought you will appreciate me for my effort exposing the defaulters.
Thanks
Thank you for raising awareness. Somehow, if not stopped early enough, this might hurt the growth of steem

Check out the scam i just posted about. Its scary because its working. People need to be more present. This is not just a place to get money. Its a place to make yourself valuable through intelligent and meaningful commenting blogging and posting. Like yours @charles1 thanks for helping us steer clear of phishing linkers! Much love.
this is very helpful.as a new user i almost fell to the upvota and resteem scam. new users need this.resteemed
Great post @charles1 , that steemians need to be informed about ! this seems to be happening more frequently and I almost got taken in by them as well , they are very tricky indeed ! thanks for sharing ! upped and resteemed ! 👍😀✌
This is very nice. My account was hacked too few days ago and it happened through phishing and then when i requested for account recovery my account has been flagged and now my popularity now came down to 14 from 34. This is total injustice and it makes me sad too. But then i hope we get them to stop this.
thanks for the info, really greatfull.
All the new user like me should go through this post. #newusers
