One night while driving home from a long distance trip (from PA to SC) I dozed off (but wasn't really sleep)and hit the inner wall of the highway. I came to just as the side of the car hit the wall at 2 points. The car hit and slid back to the road. This was the second time this happened to me and I was fortunate that God was watching over me, as when I looked around there was absolutely nothing on the road. Nothing and none one but me in my car. The damage was minimal and I was okay. Shaken a little but okay, Thank God!!
How I wasn't sleep but my eyes were closed? Well I have an eye condition that when my eyes are tired, they involuntarily close and I have no control over it. Ussually when I'm traveling, I make many stops and will pull in a rest stop if I feel my eyes getting tired to try and avoid these occurrences. However, on this night I was pushing it and was just 3 miles from the rest stop but didn't quite make it. Thank God that I was in a place that I had been many times and knew my way around.
Now I don't travel as much and don't like to go without my husband since he's the only one that can keep me alert and knows the signs of when I should get off the road.
