There should not be negative items if you purchase a level 0 item from the shop by paying 0.01 STEEM to @wizardzap and then using the !ibtluckydip command. Pickpocketing a foe or looting a Gobbo you just killed can still produce bad items.
I went back and read the rules and I think I misunderstood them. Thanks for the clarification.

IIRC, @lordnigel mentioned that there will be no way to purchase extra life points in this IBT. You do get a fresh set of 3 life points every stage, no matter how you did on the previous one -- there are no eliminations. In the worst-case scenario, if you fail on your upcoming final attempt against the siren, you simply score 0 for this stage and move on to stage 2.
