I gave up a while ago on creating contents even more so with the hope of them breaking even. I once made a contest where i wanted to see if I could even give away 5 SBD in total. 1 SBD to 5 different people who followed a rather simple set of instructions.
It failed miserable! Who would think trying hand out money in a gift economy could go so wrong!
I gave a tip to a guy yesterday who thought I was demanding a tip from him, even though the little comment saying I had tipped him was RIGHT BELOW the comment where he was ripping me a new butthole...
Some country's it is seen as rude to tip people maybe that was the issue. It can be taken as a sign as "you are so horrible at this you are going need this tip to survive."
When it comes to whales however they are use to people begging and demanding free things from them. So they tend not to read everything because it happens so often to them.

Yeah, this was a case of the latter. I had not even noticed he was a whale or I might not have been inclined to do it... lol! But he admitted he thought I was demanding a tip, then kept bitching at me for using a bot to tip him when I said I never used bots. Except I never said that, he did. I QUOTED that and tipped him for it, and the whole fuster cluck began... lol! It got straightened out... sort of... but I will forever think that he is pretty much a (insert any socially unacceptable four letter word you choose here.)

Lol! I have considered running a contest... "Catch fishy in discord! If you can talk to me before I bolt for the door, win an SD!" I try. It is a new trick this old dog is just not getting the hang of. But you remove the symbol at the front, put a few spaces in and it is safe enough to say once upon a time. I think. I hope... 🙄
LOL! I totally understand. Discord is HARD. I'm in the process of bringing new folks in and Discord has a bigger learning curve than Steemit!
I've finally gotten comfortable over there, but for the life of me, can't think of how to make it easier for newbies.
