RE: COTTON COIN CONTEST - Final annoucement. Finally time to rest :)

in #crypto7 years ago

My God! I just went through the post you picked as the winner and i think there's no quality in that. If such write up is submitted in any of @originalworks contest, it wouldn't be among the top 100. The information was not orderly in any way and a layman wouldn't understand what cotton coin is about by reading that. anyway, it's his luck and you have every right to choose who you like. Congrats to them

For what it’s worth @resusitate didn’t call anyone mad. He/ she just doesn’t agree that the post that won was of sufficient standard to take out the prize. There’s no harm in expressing an opinion so there’s no need to talk about flags. And if anyone is flagged in this post for expressing a valid opinion I’ll reverse the damage with an upvote.

I’m not going to pass judgement on the entries that took out prizes but I will say this.

  • to judge a contest you need to be impartial, and it’s hard to do so when you’re a participant in the contest as well.
  • to judge a contest where the only accepted language is English, you need to have a solid grasp of the language.

Piotr wasn’t expecting to be inundated with the number of entries received in this contest so it’s completely understandable that he had to call out for help. He did the best he could under the circumstances so I don’t feel bad for not taking out a prize in this contest.

I’ve reviewed most of the winning entries. What I’ve seen is that most give a thorough run down of every aspect of the coin in question. My entry spoke more about the cotton industry and its impacts on the environment and the cotton farmers. So I suspect that what the judges were really looking for was an entry that went into great detail about the coin, and this seems consistent with the entries into the @originalworks contest as well.

That’s my 2 cents anyway.

So in steemit, whenever someone expresses a contrary opinion, the next cause of action is to threaten him with a flag. That's really funny! The contest was all about how the cotton coin project would bring relief to cotton farmers mostly in third world countries and eliminate the bottlenecks in the current cotton industries. If I were a cotton farmer and I'm presented some of the winning write up as the cotton coin initiative that would create a better link between me and those in the supply chain, I wouldn't understand one bit of what it is about. Anyway it's passed already but someone should be free to share his opinion here. Thanks for saving me from unnecessary flagging.

Good morning @resuscitate, @freecrypto

If someone threatened you with flag then it's a wrong thing to do and I will definetly take care of it.

That should never happend in the first place.

Please guys, don't forget that we're trying to help our community to grow and this was main purpose of this contest. Let's not turn steemit into facebook, full of threats and people fighting.

I value your content and your opinion @resuscitate and again: I wish everyone could be rewarded.

Thanks for saving me from unnecessary flagging.

If you would be flagged then I would upvote you in return. Flagging is not way to go.

Cheers, Piotr

Hii @crypto.piotr I involved in the fight with @resustcitate because he used many harsh words which I don't like and I had not said that I will flag you. I only said that “i will not flag you instead of that I will give an upvote to you” that's it @crypto.piptr

Okay I take my words back but listen to me @mazzle.

I will not say that all that we had taken 100% correct entries but as a human we all made mistake I agree with it.

But listen as you can see in this post that Mr @crypto.piotr had putten “amount of votes” in this post it means that how many judges vote that same person. You definitely know this.

See I know everyone has the right to put their views but I want to say that please put in the right way

Now see what I'm saying that the judges had done hardwork too. You know I spend 8 hours to finalize the list, because I know that this question will definitely raised.

See I know everyone has the right to put their views but I want to say that please put in a right way that guy has written some wrong words which I can't accept so it makes me a bit anger.

And talking about partiality let me tell you that I'm too a judge and I had not given my name in top 10 list because my write up too is not qualifying for the post.

See you know as there are 60 entries and some of the knowledges mentioned in entries was copied from Google or wiki. So we had selected some extraordinary people whos words are clearly understandable and the one who said more about cotton coin instead of cotton.

And yes veteran english words can't be the criteria to judge the contest but the clear and understandable words can be the criteria to judge the contest.

Lastly I want to say that if we want to grow in the community than we should support each other, each other efforts and each other hardwork. If we start blaming each other every now & then, then we can't make progress on steemit.com.

Please take my words in a positive way, I'm just trying to clarify the things:).

And yes I'm sorry if I had used some wrong words 😊

Have a great day and wonderful night 😊😊

How can you make someone that is also a contestant in a contest a judge? In which part of the world is such a thing done? The first mistake in judging the contest is making fellow contestants a judge. The next mistake is using number of upvotes to determine which write up properly addressed the topic.
You said you people choosed post that talked more of cotton coin instead of cotton. Cotton coin will be used in the cotton industry and there's no way you can talk about cotton coin without talking about the cotton industry and the challenges it is facing that the cotton coin project is seeking to eliminate. Anyway, it's already over now, but everyone should be free to share their opinion because it's a free world and that was my opinion about the judgement of the contest

hi @

How can you make someone that is also a contestant in a contest a judge? In which part of the world is such a thing done?

Look. I don't know what else to tell you. I've been very transparent with my actions. I involved over 20 people to help me with judging. This is very small community and we all did our best. Not only to chose our favourite entires but also to comment them and build engagement.

That's what it was all about. This contest has been created for people who want to help this community grow and small rewards were just addition to it.

Please keep in mind that this is all learning experience. My first sponsored contest ever.

No need to be so harsh. Im sorry that you are so dissapointed.

I think it's best if I won't be bothering you in the future as we really do not share similar values. I care about community. You seem to care mostly about yourself.

Which is perfectly okey.

It's just we're not "compatible". And we definetly share different set of goals and values.

Yours, Piotr

Lol...! You seem not to get what I'm trying to say. I'm not angry that i did not win in anyway. Should you know me personally, you would discover that i am one of the most selfless people you would ever meet. I'm trying to respond to that guy that said he was also a judge of the contest and a contestant as well. @crypto.piotr you have every right to choose whomever you want the winner of your contest to be, but just for the sake of fairness in your future contest, it would be more ideal to make non contest participants the judge. I'm not angry in anyway, just sharing my thought.

I think it's best if I won't be bothering you in the future as we really do not share similar values. I care about community. You seem to care mostly about yourself.
It seems most people in steemit don't know how to handle criticism without being sentimental about it. Criticism sometimes make us give our best and make things better. Not all criticisms are influenced by selfish interest or whatever you may call it. do have a nice day

Good morning @resuscitate

You seem not to get what I'm trying to say

Please accept my apology if Im not getting what you're trying to say. Perhaps it's because Im not english speaker or perhaps it's easy for misunderstandings online, when people do not see and interact with each other.

The truth is that Im fully aware that I won't be able to please everyone during this contest. I predicted 15-20 entries and I had limited budget. Somehow I reached over 60 entries and that was the moment I knew that some people will be disapointed and I need to handle it the best way I can.

This was my first sponsored contest ever. Im only learning and I appreciate every feedback.

I'm not angry that i did not win in anyway.

The most important for me is to make sure that noone will end up being angry. What I was trying to do is to find a way to help this community grow.

It seems most people in steemit don't know how to handle criticism without being sentimental about it.
Criticism sometimes make us give our best and make things better. Not all criticisms are influenced by selfish interest or whatever you may call it.

Very wise words.

I believe that I actually handle criticism and this is all mosly learning experience.

Sometimes (mostly online) it's just hard to recognize when we are encountering criticism and when it's just someone realising anger.

Again thank you for taking time to reply. I appreciate it a lot.

Yours, Piotr

Hi @mazzle, @resuscitate , @freecrypto

Thank you @mazzle for your calm and reasonable post. I expected some disapointment the moment when I realized that I received 60 entries and I had such a limited budget.

My goal was to reach only 15-20 entries and this success definetly is causing some problems. How to reward everyone? Not really possible.

I managed to engage almost 25 judges and chosing 10 best reviews has been difficult task.

There’s no harm in expressing an opinion so there’s no need to talk about flags.

Did someone mention about flags? That's just unnecessary. We're trying to build community who share same goal: support ourselfs here on steemit. Flagging is not solution.

And if anyone is flagged in this post for expressing a valid opinion I’ll reverse the damage with an upvote.

Very wise words.

to judge a contest you need to be impartial, and it’s hard to do so when you’re a participant in the contest as well.

For that reason I worked with over 20 judges. Even if someone voted on himself then it couldn't really change final results.

Thx for your 2 cents,
Yours
Piotr

Hii @crypto.piotr I involved in the fight with @resustcitate because he used many harsh words which I don't like and I had not said that I will flag you. I only said that “i will not flag you instead of that I will give an upvote to you” that's it

hi @resuscitate

I trully wish I could reward more authors. Unfortunatelly my budged for this contest has been very limited and I did best I could to show my appreciation to all those who participated and also to all judges. Hopefully for next contest I will be able to allocate more funds from sponsors.

Im aware that there will be always some people disapointed with judges decision. To make things as fair as possible I engaged almost 25 different judges and each one provided me with list of 10 best entries.

I cannot really argue with results.

To tell you the truth im not even competing with @originalworks. They are professionals, with heavy budget. Im just like you or others. Trying to help this community to grow with very limited budget.

Complaining about level of other authors is not really pleasant to read. I understand that you could attack me personally, but no need to be angry at others.

anyway, it's his luck and you have every right to choose who you like.

Again Im sorry to see your disapointment :(

Yours, Piotr
