The consolidation that the blogs I linked allude to have more to do with being able to integrate well all the apps. Economies-of-scale is the generative essence. This requires either a large monolith with access to all the centralized databases or an exodata (i.e. open database) blockchain solution with all third party programming being inherently able to integrate.
Right. Thanks for clarifying.
And I believe the consolidation will also be about better and more fine-grained control over what third party programming can do on your phone. Instead of having to manage all these disparate apps which all want to access everything on my mobile phone (e.g. contacts list, camera, etc) the master app will control what these third party plugins can access and the user will have total and fine-grained control over when and how.
I believe this consolidation would likely have wide appeal.
Think of it more like an app browser, instead of all apps having the same level of access to your computer or mobile phone. Btw, I thought of this term “app browser” some years ago perhaps it was 2014 or 2015.
I really like that term "app browser". I'd assumed it was already established. Should catch on.
Maybe you will understand then why I am also working on a new programming language. I want to build a new platform and get rid of the forced autoupdates and so much crap I hate.
Sure. I see.
By removing the monopolistic walled garden lock-in, dApps developers have to compete in a meritocracy to provide the new features that users want. Note dApp developers will have ways to earn money. I will explain those business models in the future.
"Compete in a meritocracy." That will trigger a few snowflakes! Yeah, I do see those advantages.
I do really appreciate what 'E' and Etonomy convey as brands of new concepts and "disruptive" principles. Etonomy also sounds alot like a "true word", enough not to be associated with absolutely economy-related stuff when people really get accustomed to it, yet as a start and for the USP we could use that mix efficiently.
Yes, it does sound like a "true word". However, I can't see how it conveys "disruptive" principles in itself. Too good a name to waste though, as you later go onto refer to
Etonomy is something that will grow on people after a while. Hence I don’t think it will work as the main user facing name. It could work as “powered by Etonomy” or “an Etonomy-based dApp” if we opt for such segregration of naming and concepts.
True. Though with the etono.my domain itteration from your list, it at least suggests personal sovereignty with the emphasis on "my".
Apparently you didn’t note the groov.to listed in my table as one of the available domain names.
Correct. Permission to slap my wrists!
new ideas Etrinsic, Indieverse, Klik and Munge.
Knee-jerk responses first: Positives: Indieverse, Etrinsic and Klik. Didn't like Munge.
For me, Munge seems unappealing both visually and also when spoken (in a narrow and coarse cultural sense to many Brits will be associated with "minge" ). And too the Grunge distraction mentioned. With Etrinsic, there's an ambiguity between intrinsic and extrinsic, but an interesting and original word though.
And w.r.t. to Indieverse although Wikipedia says ‘indie’ is generally applicable to independence, again most people will associate it with independent artists only.
I agree.
With Klik, my first association is with photography, and my second with the click of a mouse. Klik is appealing visually (my wife thought it looked German with the "K") and when spoken, and is easy to remember. Good for mass-appeal, but doesn't convey the novel attributes it would offer. So I would opt for either weklik or we-klik from your domain suggestions as they imply collaboration and the social network aspects of the project - my wife also shared this response. If you chose to retain the E currency instead of using kliks, how about eklik or e-klik?
(Looking at the updated names list, Eehive still retains some appeal for me.)
Marketing focus groups with average IQ folks cause me to sober up. Also a very competitive desire to compete and win. I don’t want to put the project at a disadvantage. I would like to keep a technical name so maybe we will opt for the segregation and Etonomy. I think it depends on whether we want the token to be E or Klik.
For me , after shaking everything down, I would go with (today at least) weklik (or e-klik) as a single name for mass-appeal, or etono.my as the "brandable name with justifiable meaning that describes the blockchain in a non-technical manner and ties it in with the proposed E cryptocurrency token name."
These are good names. I doubt we can do better. I have put a lot of time into thinking about this and I think I am near the end of the search for names. Need to focus on coding.
I agree and appreciate that.
lol, yes I too associated Munge with Minge… Weighing in on Klik vs Etonomy; the former seems disposable and fad-like, while the latter suggests big picture longevity/respectable (IMO)
