RE: Living in Freedom by Living Off of STEEM and Crypto - Will a Cashless Society Change All That?

When will crypto settle down and stabilize? Will it ever? Or at least fluctuate at a similar rate with normal currencies? Until that happens, I don't see how it can be used for everyday transactions. Imagine buying a loaf of bread today for 1 coin (whatever coin that may be) and then returning tomorrow to find that the same loaf of bread now costs 5. It just won't work.

Of course, I'm completely new to crypto so the most likely response to me is, "You just don't understand how it works." And that's right. I don't understand. How will everyone be convinced to use it? Or will it be simply forced upon us by the government?

To me, crypto currencies are more like stocks than actual currencies. Good for investing in or trading for profit. As much as possible, I wouldn't convert them to cash unless I needed to. For example, I get paid stocks or profit from them. In which case, I convert them to cash as my salary. I'd still want to spend as little as possible though.

Yup, the volatility is a reason for lack of adoption. Maybe that will change in time as things progress? Maybe they stay as trading assets like you say... :/
