It's not technically a cryptocurrency in the truest sense, but they are doing some pretty interesting things. The news they released last week will make it much easier for banks to participate in this space by allowing single transactions to be conducted across seven different ledgers. Worth the read. http://www.coindesk.com/interoperability-boost-ripple-sends-blockchain-transaction-across-7-different-ledgers/
Ripple is banker coin. It's supported by the reason we are getting into crypto, the horrible financial system created to enslave us. Do not put your money with the bankers, that's a bad bet at this time in history.
Ripple is made for the banks in order to support the banks and grow their profits. The whole reason cryptocurrencies were created was due to the centralised and untrustworthy nature of banks and their shady practices. So ripple goes against the essence of cryptocurrencies. Hoped that helped!
Most people hate Ripple because they sell their technology primarily to banks, but they are not a "banker coin" as everybody keeps saying. Frankly this is a really dumb statement. It's like calling a furniture company that sells to banks, "bankers' furniture"
The only other real reasons for people not to like Ripple is their lack of mining and the very large amounts of Ripple that they hold in reserve. People see this as an opportunity for them to devalue the coin. They would need to be incredibly stupid to do this though.
Unfortunately, all the negative sentiment from the "crypto-religious types" has in my view slammed the price, despite the fact that they are an extremely fast and effective coin for payments. It blows away Bitcoin and Ethereum for speed.
Hello, I believe why they call it a banker coin is that Banks run the nodes. It is much faster than bitcoin because their mining is centralized. So, of course, it's faster. Also less secure.
