I've not yet had the occasion to spend crypto directly, but depending on what was happening in the market I might at some point if it was available. I definitely like the idea, just rarely want to part with my crypto and don't see things I buy being offered for crypto.
I have cashed out some crypto using Localbitcoins and it was super easy. From the time I decided to take some gains on one of my coins in its pre-fork period to the time the cash was in my bank account was a total of maybe an hour. Nice!
But as other commentators have said, really we don't want to spend our crypto at this stage in the game. I at least haven't earned enough from it to want to take it out of the market as cash. I want to get to the point where I don't think of crypto in USD terms at all, because I only intend to trade among crypto. If you think like that, you don't get caught up on the idea that the overall market cap is decreasing. All that matters is the relative price of what you want to buy to what you want to sell and whether that is getting more or less favorable.
I do look forward to a day when I can earn enough STEEM to actually be able to gradually withdraw that to live on, but for now I'm needing to reinvest all gains.
Yeah, that's a good way to look at it, and hold on to when it's better positioned for use :)
