RE: Free TULIP handout!

just like Englanders are English and Germans are Dutch ??? you mean DEUTCH ? sorry maybe i understand your point wrong. I think i have all i need. I only do not understand the light wave wallet, it has gor my name in it and my number, but it wants to create new one? Is someone explaining this somewhere maybe with screenshots ... very curious to this one and i wish you a lot of patience with me :-) thank you for the offering !

Sort:

'Dutch' is a word in Old English that means 'people'. The English used this word to refer to the 'people' living on the other side of the channel... That's the Dutch, the Germans, the Flemish, the Frysians, etc. etc.

But as @oaldamster says, there is a lot of confusion between Dutch and Deutsch. There is a small community somewhere in the USA called the Dutch, but they're actually of German heritage.

in grand rapids Michigan there should be several real Dutch communitys, they also formed their own dutch reformed dutch church. Most of them coming from zealand. I have a blog about that, because my family emigrated around 1900

That's fantastic to hear! I'm from Zealand myself! 100% authentic 😃

from where ? :-)

Middelburg, the capital

So, in a way, Dutchland could be have ment 'the land of the people'.

Okay, now back to my job...

Really interested in these kind of subjects, can you refer me to a source?

Tried using https://oldenglishtranslator.co.uk/ but all it got me was rice : 3. the people inhabiting a district a nation.

I read it a long time ago. I can't remember the source, but this is what I found just now: https://www.etymonline.com/word/dutch

Thanks for sharing, a great read, bookmarked the site.

The writer still mokking the Nederish, tsk tsk...

The Dutch themselves spoke English well enough to understand the unsavory connotations of the label and in 1934 Dutch officials were ordered by their government to stop using the term Dutch. Instead, they were to rewrite their sentences so as to employ the official The Netherlands. [Rawson]

And getting a Dutch Oven is not always a nice thing...

Dutch oven is from 1769; OED lists it among the words describing things from Holland, but perhaps it is here used in the slighting sense...

Great site, will surely dig more into it.

You're welcome! I'm always interested in the etimology of words. It's also really fun to see the similarities between languages and how they all come together in dialects :)

Exactly, it is the roots of all languages, that what is known as dialect. The spoken word that evolved into written languages later. And I find it fun to trace back the origin and the similarities between languages. :-)

Yes, it is a mistake that comes from 18th century New York/ New Amsterdam. Where there were all kinds of nationalities that immigrated to the United States. The English, that bought New Amsterdam and changed the name to New York, heard the Nederish and Germans speak, thinking they were the same, as it turns out.

When asked, the Germans, what language they spoke, they replied "Deutsch", or what people are you: "Deutsch". English speaking people will have a tough time saying: "Deutsch", so that became: Dutch, and with that one of the biggest mistakes in history. Not many even seems to have bothered to ask a logical question like: "How come they are from Nederland and they are called Dutch, should their country not be called Dutchland then...?" And hey, turn out there a Dutchland, or Deutschland! B-)

Also the origin of the Dollar is Nederish from the New Amsterdam period: Daalder. Try to say that with an English tongue. And you might get how that could have become: Dollar. That is one for the holiday dinner conversation too. ;-)

The Waves Light Wallet...

I'll prep a screenshot...

i have never learned that at school, knowing you worth its weight in gold to me :-) i have to thank you again , i see people giving here a code, is that the code that is under your name when i start the app? I have the feeling no do not do that ... ? :-) when i start i get coins with a code, and under that my name with the same code, they both have got crosses next to it like i can hide them.

It is my pleasure. :-)

Look at the screenshot, that is how it should look. And behind Address: is the code I need to be able to send you the free TULIP and Waves. Good luck!

After you logged into your Wallet: click on the address, it gets copied to your clipboard.

Then you can reply to the post and paste your address. And then give me some time to send the TULIP and a bit of Waves. ;-)

i did it all and i got to that page, but what confuses me is that it asks everytime register account? when you are registers that should be it no?

You only need to register once, and your name of the account and the address even should pop up at the first page. And when you click on that, you use your password and login.

The first adres what i got when i made the account seemed to be different of the one witch is on top of the page. I hope i am right now when i copie the top of the page one .

Every time you login that should be on top. To be shure, logout again and then login. The way I showed on the Screenshots.

Let me know when you know for sure, then I can send you the TULIP en Waves asap.

You only need to have one address. (Ignore the Import Account and New Account.)
awaveslogin.png
Then use your password and click login.
awavespwd.png

After that you should see the Waves Light Wallet mainpage, with on top the Address.

Graag gedaan! Fijne zondag!

Congratulations @janine-ariane, you just received 37 TULIP and some WAVES for free!

WHAT!!

1januari ? :-)

Nee, als dan later... :-)
