Could you elaborate "Send the lost rewards to the null account rather than redistributing it back to the reward pool. ?"

I haven't had a chance to get around to this yet, but I am planning to do some kind of post about the benefits of sending the flag rewards to the null account.

Btw, downvotes are VERY rare on Steem. I would say less than a single percent of rewards are being redistributed through downvotes, but I will have to do some research to verify or disprove this hypothesis.
