I think STEEM has a great potential, but first it needs some changing so that people upvote based on quality instead of based on whatever they think will earn the most money... Right now Steemit seems full of people who, honestly, don't give a damn about the content and just look for the payout only. That can never be good for STEEM's long term value. It needs to be addressed, or the whole thing could implode. I think any gains STEEM has momentarily is just the same boost all altcoins have and says little about STEEM's stability or value. Even shitcoins get a boost during these times.

I agree, but most coins don't have the likes of Jerry Banfield, Trevon James, BritVR, Craig grant and other YouTubes promoting the hell out of it. Remember that one of the contributing factors to Dash's success was the likes of Jerry Banfield talking about it so much. Don't underestimate the power of popularity, most people are sheep and want to follow shepherds. When a good portion of shepherds are promoting Steem it is only a matter of time before the price rises.
