Every time I look up any news going on with major crypto coins Bitcoin and Ethereum, I always get the same unsatisfying feeling that is disheartening. The same news articles come out "BITCOIN ERRORS FOUND IN BLOCKCHAIN" or "ETHEREUM ANALYST SAYS PRICE PREDICTED TO DROP". The SAME posts every single day show up on my google searches and I just get sick of it. While bad news is still informative news, it seems like it's something they focus on repeatedly.
You get the idea right?! I open up the same articles consisting of price talk and negative attacks on cryptocurrency but I RARELY see any media attention on the benefits of cryptocurrency or what it does for technological development and overall societal development.
Stuff like this. This is the stuff I want to see and have other people think about when they hear of crypto. I looked through google and found that only crypto specific websites had coverage on this news story. It's a shame none of the large media corporations spent any time covering this news. All they can cover these days are stories on hype, price, and negative news. Hopefully that changes one day and instead there could be coverage on the quality aspects of cryptocurrency, especially even some more coverage on Steem!
Negative news is still news. So I see it as a positive. But, the fact does remain that the drama surrounding cryptocurrency's movements makes for great headlines. Gloom and Doom... or Heavenly Highs? This is what captures the attention of the masses.
And it isn't just in the crypto space. In general "news" is far more focused on sensationalizing content. Feel good stories just don't fit the narrative. They don't sell unfortunately.
At the end of the day, the crypto space will keep picking up. Financial Institutions and Government bodies hate it because of the threat it brings forth to the normalcy of fiat currency.
We just have to push forth and ignore the drama as best we can and filter the information through that actually matters for the mid to long term.
Yup any news is good news as it brings awareness to the rest of the public. I just wish it wasn't consistently negative because some people read headlines and not the entirety of the article.
You're absolutely right! Media tends to play towards the negative perspective in stories. They draw up past events in someone's life that may have nothing to do with the story.
Yup I'd love to ignore the drama and headlines around us. It's when people start repeating this drama in the news over and over again to me, that's when it starts bugging me. They dont see the bigger picture.
It bugs the hell out of me too to read all the craziness, but then I just take a breather and check how far we've grown over the past couple of years in the crypto space and can't help but grin.
Yup it's a lot easier on my phone when I think of what to write and I'm on the go. I'm also lazy and like laying down while I'm on the esteem app lol. You should give it a try. The only downside to it in my opinion is when your posts don't load because it lags. Sometimes it takes hours to posts but sometimes it's instant.

Nice article. Bringing the issue of the promoting of negative ideas about cryptocurrency in the media to everyone's attention in the first place is the starting point, so you're already advocating for a positive shift yourself (and that's great!) As for the "why?" on the matter, I think it's a much deeper issue than uninformed journalists looking for ratings. Cryptocurrency challenges the authorities of the finance institutions and the government, as it shifts power and protection back into the hands of the people. Unfortunately, these authorities happen to be the most powerful forces in the country, and have vast influence over the information pumped out to the masses. I believe the finance industry will adapt quickly to the rise of this new market, as they will see exploitative value in the freedom it presents. The government, however, will be a much harder sell. It's going to take a whole lot of advocacy from those of us who believe in the principles of crypto to get information spread to the masses and start a movement that the government can no longer oppose. But I for one, am up for the challenge, and it seems you are too! Thanks for posting :-)
Right! The media companies are most likely influenced by government and are screened based on what they release in the news. Once they start to open up we'll hopefully see more positive news about crypto. It's too bad these news stations don't allow writers to do what they want and be independent of management when it comes to actual news. More awareness will lead to better development of crypto technology so hopefully they can understand this! Thanks for reading :)
At least we are seeing any sort of news in crypto these past couple of weeks! But yeah hopefully it becomes better more positive and helpful news. And hopefully even news on alt coins that aren't able to get their technology out to the public and what it can really do!

If they don't show the bright side of crypto things, they will regret it one day.
BTW, do you use esteem to create posts? I saw 2 users get quick upvotes from @good-karma and @esteemapp etc.
They're just skeptics imo.

It is human nature that they tend to read or listen negative news more than positive news.
Also the media has gone wrong in their approach. They want to sell their news and negativity they choose and it is working for them.
But the good news is that cryptocurrencies will be adopted by masses in coming years and we will be in healthy positions.
At least we are seeing any sort of news in crypto these past couple of weeks! But yeah hopefully it becomes better more positive and helpful news. And hopefully even news on alt coins that aren't able to get their technology out to the public and what it can really do!
Few Altcoins are moving fast and making good developments like SiaCoin, STRAT (Waiting for its Breeze wallet)
So it will get better and better with time.
Yup I'm invested in both of those coins actually. Just have to wait for the day good news pops up
megacoin, i always wondered if Kim Schmitz had anything to do with it, rumors went big. Glad to see someone still believes in it :)
Haha I don't know much about megacoin but I thought it'd be cool to use an image of all the older alt coins
