Some days ago, I saw the demonstration in the center of Seoul city.
Political demonstration has great meaning in korea
After liberation from the Japanese imperial rule 1945, Korea had suffered war for 3 years as known ‘Korean War’(1950-1953)
Through this war, North and South had killed their brothers and sisters. Korean have lived as one family for thousands years. North korea Kim Il Sung had occurred war against South Korea.
Kim Il Sung was ordered by Stalin. Kim Il Sung wanted to be a communist ruler in Korean peninsular. We korean never forgive the crime committed by Kim Il Sung who killed same tribe.
After the Korean war, the political situation was very complicated. There were 2 times of military coups in Korea. But not like other countries, the rule of the military government was quite successful. The economy was successful. But behind this success, there was a sacrifice of common people.
With the success of the economy, Korean people had rose for democracy. So We korean people attained the political democracy.
In this context, korean people expelled the former President Park Guen Hye and put the in Jail.
Last year winter, there was a huge demonstration in front of the president palace
At that time I took the photos on the street all day long
Even though it was very cold, the demonstration had been for more than 2 months day and night.
Finally the former president was impeached. It was the great victory of ordinary people. We expelled her peacefully.
The demonstration was held on the same street for a wage increase and better job.
The demonstration looked like a interesting march.
Looking at the demonstration, I remembered the people who had sacrificed their lives.
I am really proud of our political accomplishment.
I understand you. In Ukraine, too, it was not easy. It is a pity that people find it very difficult at such times. I wish peace to your home and your country.
Thank you @sokoloffa
A sense of unrest permeates these photos, @slowwalker. It seems the common people in Korea have suffered through many things over the centuries and in the modern era have had to resist dictatorship and injustice.
The sight of ordinary citizens taking to the streets in protest is an example of democracy in action. Too often in its long history have the people of Korea suffered under their rulers.
Your previous posts about Seoul City remind us that it has always been a fortified city, surrounded by gates and walls, and having to defend itself against foreign enemies. It seems little has changed that way in the modern era.
Your photos are a panorama of a country rising up and taking back its freedom, and they are a testimony to many who have sacrificed their lives.
The politicians and the military have their own agenda, my friend, but ultimately the will of the people will prevail.
A good post today, @slowwalker

Happy Liberation Day @slowwalker
What a great day to commemorate Korea's release from the oppressive clutches of Japan but it is always distressing to remember the Korean war which soon ensued it and many people forget about. Including the corrupts and broken politic systems
However it seems like most things have been mended now.
Great Photographs @slowwalker
I hope you have a great day friend! :)

Thank you for sharing this.
@slowwalker - Good post Sire. This stupid war should not happen, but I hate NK leader. He seems an idiot Sire :)
SK won democracy, that's a good news too Sire.
Decided to RESTEEM your post.
+W+
That's the way all peaceful protests should be!
@slowwalker,
I have heard about this. Seems democracy won at the end.
Cheers~
Peaceful and smooth .. and do not disturb others .. hopefully can be emulated by other countries.
Very interesting post, and need to be discussed more deeply, because it is all colonization and human rights violations are mandatory to be fought. We Aceh people, a province located at the tip of Sumatra island of Indonesia, also experiencing the same thing that experienced by Korean people. 20 years we must feel the civil war that caused many victims. Until now the memory is still felt in our minds. Prayers and hopes are very high, hopefully the Korean people can come back to live side by side and get back together with the families.
At least the demonstrations there in your country is somehow peaceful.
Unlike here in Manila, most rallies here are bound to have violent clashes between the people & the police.
Great post and what an amazing story.
Love the photos, there must be thousands of people at the demonstration, thanks for sharing.
Great post.Thank God ,it has been successful without any violence.
I've seen photos and videos of South Korean protestors before as well and I can say for sure that they are the most peaceful protestors in the world. At least compared to people in my country, Nepal. Thousands of protestors on the streets and no violence at all. The last time thousands of people took to the streets in Kathmandu, it left a few dead, dozens injured and millions of property damaged.
very nie post
I wonder how long the war is going. Can't they just live peacefully even when there are borders? Man, they have a complicated issue there.
So many people on the streets... I would be proud in your place also man!
wow that is amazing! 2 months in the cold is a long time. Thank you for sharing this story, I had no idea.
Really nice post slowwalker! Thanks for sharing! The whole presidential scandal is really depressing and I hope that South Korea will find a good solution for it.
