So I took some photos of building.

it always impresses us to see such an old structure endure through the centuries, @slowwalker, especially a wooden building.

All of man's culture and history are testimony to our desire for permanence which we can never achieve.

There's a sadness about that building - the lack of paint suggests that it has long since weathered away.

We treasure things that endure because we long for stability, but as the poet, Louis Mac Neice wrote, we are ghosts that cannot catch hold of things

thank you for your comment as always

You have the same reputation!

yes, but I have a lot less influence :)

Okay, but - sorry - I'm a Steemit noob - what is the difference between influence and reputation? Thank you for your help!

Gave you a follow. :)

So wonderful post, beauty of historic places. I wish I could visit there some day .

Korea is so rich in culture. I would love to visit one day.

Such a great informative post @slowwalker , keep it up.....

It is incredible that a timber construction has managed to remain standing for 800 years. Here in Spain the old wooden constructions only appear in the history books.

This house is really impressive. Although it is made of wood, but the structure is still preserved! That's amazing!

Thank you so much for the historical facts. That is amazing indeed and it is such an amazing building. Love it :D

great post , i think maybe no painting again means to protect its origin , right ?

The hefty wooden structure. It make me amaze the skillful persons in the past along with the sense of art. Thank for sharing the detail of korean historical building. best regards my friend @slowwalker

someday i want to visit this place

the wood is very strong and very durable, the wood is pretty amazing, do you know the name of the type of wood?..

Nice art nd culture of this.

Very nice post good job

Nice photos. Interesting post but couldn't find any signboard or carving which says it is build in 1308 AD. Such an old building.

Damn this looks so great! I would wish they could make my house with that kind of wood! Do you also know what kind religion belongs by this tempel? Buddhism or Hinduism?

hi miss im new my voteing thanks

Very good your post @slowwalker

thank you

You are welcome :-)

Eastern culture is truly incredible, Korea has a mixture of Mongols and Chinese, it is unique. @slowwalker

mongols?
I don't think so

In 2008, I had a meeting with businessmen from South Korea, they told me that until 100 years ago they had a Chinese letter, they now have their own. Also, the Koreans are a mixture of Chinese and Mongols. @slowwalker

ㅡkorean alphabet was made for 600 years ago

Okay, I say that until 100 years ago they had a Chinese letter, that's what I heard.

you are right in that point.
In north east asia, chinese letters were as same as Latin.
So I can read and write chinese letters.

Waoww nice post. Thank

great post , i think maybe no painting again means to protect its origin , right ?

I need to ask once more the reason why.
Actually the painting is to protect woods against bugs, rain and sunshine

its got a beautiful rustic vibe! brilliant post!

thank you so much

The building belonged to an emperor? Do you know the type of wood that was used? I can imagine how many natural phenomena he has endured, it is incredible.

In the Canary Islands there is a type of tree that lives a lot. There is one very famous in Tenerife, El Drago (Dracaena draco), which is estimated to be 3,000 years old, although in the last years they have determined that it is between 600 and 800 years old. In spite of that I do not think that the wood lasts so much, since it is not considered a tree to be of the family of the Monocotyledoneae, regards

thank you for comment.
In my guess, the tree might be Zelkova

interesting!

an impressive wooden structure. With lots of love for detail. Thank you for sharing this with us my friend!

Very Interesting :)

Nice post!

very good job. Eastern culture.

very good job. Eastern culture.

It is such a great miracle to watch it. Wooden buildings can survive for so long, I really wonder this fact.

i am abdullatifphadia Ever pondered what the most seasoned expanding on each of the seven mainlands is? Me as well! I present to you my discoveries on the most seasoned structures on every mainland. They may not be what others recommend, but rather my decisions depend on specific criteria explained in the video. I trust you appreciate! (Extra Facts Below!)

Reward certainty #1: What are the most seasoned structures in the United States?

A: Pueblo structures in the American Southwest are by a wide margin the most seasoned, going back to around 750 CE. They are as yet fabricating them today!

Reward actuality #2: What is the most seasoned structure on the planet?

A: The arrangement of disintegrated structures, yet as yet standing stately mainstays of Gobekli Tepe in Turkey are the most seasoned we are aware of up until now. The site, found unintentionally in a few fields, goes back to a mind blowing 9,500 BCE. There is still much puzzle that encompasses Gobekli Tepe

Wow nice post @@@@@@@@@@ Thanks

This is a wonderful little piece of Korean cultural history that needs to be taken care of far better. Wood (especially varieties of Teak) can last hundreds of years with the right care and these cultural timepieces is something that even future generations should get a chance to cherish and admire.

Rather than paint it, the authorities should periodically clean and give the building a coat of polish that will restore shine but not cover the underlying pattern and intricacies of the wood itself.

yes, it has it's own beauty

amazing.. look at those wooden pillars.. there's so much history, culture within them.

wow this is very old one of the most interesting post ever seen :D

YES! I agree. I've been to this temple last month and I'm also shocked on how old and durable the material.

800 years ago but look like a 2months ago.

Outstanding structure

A unique temple! Beautiful.

Great photos, I love the look of the weathered wood grain.

are they still building house like that? that is amazing, 800 years. tougher than cement

I wish we build building like this now not just paper thin lego houses that all look the same. Well here in UK anyways.

There's something about Asian culture and history that I absolutely love.

Such emotion brought up by seeing your photographs of such a beautiful building with its history and blemishes...cracks and crevices....what a powerful feeling to know that this has endured the test of time when so many other things have not. Its incredible. Thank you for sharing!
