Thank you for this view and this position.
I'll be making a move in the coming days to start manually "downvoting" as well as my current program of manual curation.
What I mean by this is that I'm sick of seeing content that is only about the platform gaining a larger reward than the hardwork of artists, writers, musicians, photographers, and other creatives who make the platform an amazing place to explore.
Yes, there is a space and time for people to discuss the intricacies of the platform itself, but everytime one of these posts is upvoted, it takes a portion of the reward pool away from creators.
My view is that if I start to downvote such content (using my free downvotes) - I can return that to the pool, and incrementally reward content creators on the whole more.
I imagine we will have probably weeks more of platform related content on top of the trending list, when things cool down we as a community need to find the middle ground because if true content creators don't get the proper support Hive could also dwindle down and slowly die.
We need more posts like this to push the content creator narrative and manual curation on top. If autovotes win again it is a sad same old story once again.
I'll make a post outlining my curation policy in more detail in the coming days.
I am so glad you share the same opinion that we can't have trending content being about the platform.
That would be like going to reddit to see information about how many posts each sub-reddit had in them each day.
I want to go to a network, be it on a blockchain or not, to go and engage with (and create / share) content that I enjoy, not to see its front page lambasted with a circle jerk of how great the platform itself is.
Support content, not content about the platform!
