As we are starting 2019 many people feel the world has gone crazy (or has it?) and I would bet it's only going to get more intense from here on out. Some say we are waking up, others say the world is going to end and a lot of people don't seem to acknowledge that anything fundamental has changed in decades except maybe for the internet and their mobile phones...
So in the spirit of considering some lighthearted and sinister matters in the beginning of this year it is @paradigmprospect's pleasure to share a few insightful articles with you today if you are looking for some food for thought relating to Steem, society and finding inner peace in these fast-moving times...

Censoring Steem Sites - Does It 'Protect' victims, Enable Abusers, Both or Neither? We Need To Be Clear on This For Steem's Sake
I'm sure you have heard about the Dark Overlord hacking story in where they allegedly offer classified documents pertaining to the so-called 9/11 attacks for Bitcoin payment.
I normally don't like to focus on stories that may turn out to be placed attention grabbers for us to get distracted by and involved in as many of these "heroes" have turned out to be highly suspicious and to often be in direct connection to the very power structure they are alleged to fight against.
But seeing as this is directly affecting the Steem blockchain and touching upon fundamental aspects of how this place is operating I couldn't wish for a more insightful article on the censorship matter than the one @ura-soul has written up. I highly recommend his blog to any open-minded inquirer out there.
A bun Dance
It's so easy to get sucked into negativity, frustration and depression considering the rapidly changing times we are living in. Things often look dangerous and sometimes we feel it's futile to even try to find balance in this crazy tornado of life.
But did you ever consider the perspective that all the challenges, all the perceived "adversaries" and resistances to ourselves and our happiness are in fact blessings in disguise?
Well if you find yourself totally convinced that things are bleak and hopeless I invite you to check out the blog of @skramatters to get a healthy dose of optimism and allow yourself - if only for a moment - to not take life more serious than necessary.

While Westerners tend to focus a lot on contemporary pieces of advice of our own cultures we also see much evidence that a stress-laden society has its clear downsides. Depression is everpresent, there are rising rates of burnout and despite all our technology we don't seem to find happiness all that easily.
It is situations like this that afford us the painful luxury of looking at how other cultures have historically analyzed and tackled the apparent paradox of finding happiness in the Earthly realm. One of these traditions that is certainly worth considering is Buddhism, and if you are not familiar with the teachings and suggestions laid out in this ancient practice this marvellous article by @revisesociology might give you a great starting point in reconsidering what happiness is, and how it can be found.

On to the submission requirements for The Daily Sneak:
- You can choose from 2 to 5 articles for your entry. Submissions with only one selected article will be ignored.
- All articles chosen for curation need to have been published within the last 5 days before your entry. It may take time for me to publish your curation, and curated articles need to be within the reward window when your submission is published.
- You cannot submit your own post for curation. Selections from nsfw will not be accepted. We also check for plagiarism and only highlight original content.
- Selected posts should have less than $50 in total rewards and have not previously been curated by The Daily Sneak.
- We try to spread the love around, so while selections from authors that have been highlighted before are welcome, they might not be included if the author's last inclusion was recent. Similarly, if you include two articles from the same author in one submission, we will typically highlight only one of the two.
- Be sure to include your personal bio for me to introduce you to readers, and make sure that each selection has commentary. This can be just a few sentences about why you think the selection is worth our attention, or what is great about it - something that will make people want to click through the headline and check out the actual article. English is preferred, but other languages will be considered as long as English translation is included.

- Including image links to the source article is not required (and we prefer to leave some mystery if photography is highlighted and the article has only one photo.) If you include more than 2 articles in your submission and not all are approved for publication, your submission may still be published into an edition of The Daily Sneak, as long as at least 2 articles are approved. This could happen for several different reasons. If you are unsure why an article was cut, please review the submission guidelines again. If you are still unsure, feel free to ask politely why it was cut.
Submission Reward
A brief biography of each guest curator will be included in the edition that uses their submission. In addition, each guest curator will receive 1 SBI for each article from their submission that is highlighted in The Daily Sneak. That's up to 5 SBI for each accepted submission!
With Steem Basic Income now upvoting comments for members that have not posted within the last 7 days, and SBI having proven to be a great value proposition, we are shifting to begin rewarding authors with SBI instead of SBD. This will help The Daily Sneak continue in its mission to discover and reward quality content creators and curators.
