oh I know, at times I also catch myself daydreaming on the bike... like: "Dude, wake up, you are speeding downhill on this metal contraption... and what was that thing coming the other way? A pick-up truck?" In those moments I have to regain my senses, usually by forcing myself to go uphill. That gets the blood pumping, and gets the brain into gears as well. Not that I don't enjoy a good daydream, but it would suck to lose my attention in a crucial moment.

Absolutely. A couple of months back i was daydreaming while cycling to work. Got hit by a bus for my efforts!
Now i try to give the road a little more attention. But it is very difficult, especially considering I ride a motorcycle as well and I am used to substantially faster speeds. Cycling at times just seems slow. Yet, much better than running, which is so boring that i rather jump off a cliff. Without a parachute!
I never liked running. I prefer to swim. Now THAT is ideal for daydreaming. I used to go for early morning swims, when it was still dark outside. After a good hour in the water I'd have my morning coffee and start actually waking up. Morning swimming was magic. Sometimes I would remember my dreams of that night, and contemplate them while doing laps. I didn't even bother counting my distance, just let the clock be my guide. No worries about traffic or other accidents, however, in the pool I would not get anywhere either.
I guess swimming would be ideal. If you aren't afraid of water!
