I just hope my next tour doesn't start off with rain and thunder. Hopefully the weather gets nicer for you soon.

Where are you heading for next? Actually the weather have been very good for me overall. But the evenings usually ended up like in the video. But rather bad weather in my tent than when in middle of the day when I am cycling:)!
I'm planning a 4-day 310 km ride around western New York that will have free campgrounds to stay at each night. I might invite people to join me but I doubt anyone will be available. I'll probably do this after our holiday (July 4th).
Free camp grounds? Wish that was a thing in EU! sounds awesome though
Most state forests in New York have free camping. It's primitive camping with just a fire ring provided, usually no bathrooms. You can only stay a couple days and need a permit for large groups. Then there are some that just allow camping anywhere as long as you're 150 feet from the road or river. Off-road trails may have some free hiker-biker campgrounds. The Erie Canal Trail lets you camp at the locks. I think you're supposed to call ahead though.
