The full moon

in #dailythoughts5 years ago

After the rainclouds pulled away the cold came. It felt like winter all of a sudden. The smell of chopped wood burning from a fire place came into the scenery. The air was still moisty and I almost had the idea that the snow could come down at once. None of it was true, it was still 10 above 0. But the moon, the smell and the scenery just called for memorable moments.

It made me think of one of the moon eclipses I experienced while living on in the Caribbean on the island of Sint Martin. One of my friends was always into everything that was going down in space, and he would know every full moon, every super moon, every blue moon, and every ecplise of any kind on the second when it would take place.

There was a lunar eclipse on one Saturday night and we all deceided to experience it to its full extend. Another friend was living on the seaside on the east side of the island which would have a perfect view of the view. Because this was on the other side of a hill there also wouldn't be too much light pollution. Only the clear sight of the island of St Barths in the far distance was the only lights around us. And the moon and the stars ofcourse.

We all had a drink here and there and we were barbequeing on the rocks with wood from old palm leaves. Talks about life were passing everywhere and we all felt united even though we knew that all of us would one day choose our own paths. We had an outside sort of bed made out of old pallets with an old matress on it, and we all layed on that next to each other talking and looking at the moon.

The eclipse took long. Longer than we all would have expected. Or time seemed to pass slow because we all didn't want the moment to end. It felt so peacefull and we were all just chatting away. It took about two hours and one by one I saw people falling asleep around me, which also felt natural. I also felt my eyes close a bit and deceided to give in.

I woke up by a small light. It was the sun coming up in the morning, and the smell of the salt sea water blowing up over my head. I look around me and everyone was gone. I had slept outside by the ocean and not noticed anyone leaving. I guess they felt that I had looked so comfortable that they had let me sleep, but had putten a little sheet over me

It was so...honest... on how the situation was. The sun came up and it was a new day. The moon had passed
