It actually would make more sense to create a different simulation. Every time it runs to get more data.
Sure, but nothing prevents keeping your little paradise habitat separate so you can start a new universe sim without destroying it.
There's comfort in the idea of an afterlife but even if the painful evidence points towards this being all we have, and enjoying it while it lasts seems like our only choice one can only wish.
Indeed, even the worst case scenario is at least tolerable.
