I am the same. What FB does for me is different than what Steemit offers. I see Steemit as a Reddit, Tumblr or Wordpress alternative, so the focus on FB is perhaps misplaced by the community. It needs a hell of a restructure and redevelopment to be a FB alternative.
Although I see the very same situation where you are needing to pay to promote your work exists here too. There are the few, who run the promotion services, that monetise the drive for visibility, and then there are the few who are able to afford to utilise these services time and time again. Same structure, same result, different stakeholders.
I’ve seen a few good content creators disillusioned with this and have effectively thrown in the towel and submitted to the promotion services.
And if anyone wants to use your information? Well. The blockchain is there to query for all.
There are wonderful opportunities on here, but I’m not convinced social media has found its new world order yet. I’ve seen some pretty good applications of blockchain in terms of music publishing, so there are places where it can absolutely fit. In fact, I think more bespoke services work really well for creative types.
Blockchain is full of scams and people rigging the system, like everywhere else, we need to be careful daily.
I have spoken out against some of the problems and people here and you can see I have paid the price.
