There are people I wouldn't be able to reach otherwise if it weren't for Facebook, so I keep a private page for that. Insanely private, as I have it locked down about as tightly as you can make it, though I know FB itself can still steal my information.
I also have a FB page for my books, and a Twitter and Instagram page to promote my books, as well, but I use those strictly for book marketing and nothing else. It seems if you want to develop any kind of fan base for your books, music, or art these days, you have to be on social media. I don't particularly enjoy it, but it is a necessary evil of getting your work out there. Maybe one day, alternatives like Steemit will work just as well for building an audience and attracting an agent to represent your work.
I agree of course.
Did you see the idiot in this post who called this a cheap ripoff of his post, with a picture pasted on it????
37 weeks I have run this series.
They have not even been here 37 weeks total yet likely.
The nerve.
There are more and more jerks and plagiarists on here lately, with the increased sign-ups. Remember the good old days when Steemit was smaller and a nicer community (and people would actually see and vote on your posts)?
I remember.
I keep thinking how much you told me you made since you were here before me.
The price of BTC was so low then...... and you made a ton.....
You really banked a ton on here early and enjoyed massive gains if you saved even half to crypto before cashing out the other half for bills or life costs etc.
Amazing.
I was out a few hours so it was not nice to come home to that comment.
Look down his posts, comments and replies, it is all one line comments, garbage stuff mostly, nothing of any value here but complaining and entitlement and guess what, he joined this month LOL
I am pretty nice and patient but that behaviour will have him flagged to 0 in no time.
Dang. I just looked at his page and he literally just signed up this month, and all the posts I saw on his blog were negative. Why even bother posting here at all if he so obviously hates it? Why make an account?
I'm sorry you had to deal with a troll like that today. I know it's the last thing you need. The MUTE button might be well-used here. I've only used it once, I think, maybe twice, but it made the Steemit experience better for me when I did.
Yes, that is what I saw also.
Thanks for the support Miss Steph.
So the posting daily about your book is done?
I left you a CLONE comment on your I Was a Kid post last nite, a good reminder of my time in FLA.
I posted the whole novel. The last chapter went up on Tuesday. Though, a friend of mine on here suggested I start posting the book I'm currently writing, and maybe write it in "real time" here, rather than the already finished and highly edited novel I just posted about Sarah's adventure. If I wrote it in real time here, it would be more like workshopping it, and getting suggestions for edits and changes and other things from readers as I post. I might do it. It's just a regular romance novel, not a fantasy novel as the Sarah novel was, but it has a unique concept behind the hero and heroine.
That will be painful if you do that as you go because we both know you do not like being told what to do lol
I am the same. What FB does for me is different than what Steemit offers. I see Steemit as a Reddit, Tumblr or Wordpress alternative, so the focus on FB is perhaps misplaced by the community. It needs a hell of a restructure and redevelopment to be a FB alternative.
Although I see the very same situation where you are needing to pay to promote your work exists here too. There are the few, who run the promotion services, that monetise the drive for visibility, and then there are the few who are able to afford to utilise these services time and time again. Same structure, same result, different stakeholders.
I’ve seen a few good content creators disillusioned with this and have effectively thrown in the towel and submitted to the promotion services.
And if anyone wants to use your information? Well. The blockchain is there to query for all.
There are wonderful opportunities on here, but I’m not convinced social media has found its new world order yet. I’ve seen some pretty good applications of blockchain in terms of music publishing, so there are places where it can absolutely fit. In fact, I think more bespoke services work really well for creative types.
Blockchain is full of scams and people rigging the system, like everywhere else, we need to be careful daily.
I have spoken out against some of the problems and people here and you can see I have paid the price.
I am famous for starting the #SteemitStrike here in protest among other stuff I guess.
Maybe not famous either but known LOL
I must have missed out on this! I don’t tend to come out of my little corner much. I’ll check the tag.
