I used to train at Charlottesville BJJ under Gordon Emery, but scheduling issues and me continually getting hurt made me stop. I miss training though. I was only a white belt with a long way to go, but other white belts were being way too rough and causing injuries to me. Then my wife went back to college, so my entire schedule was shot (not complaining about her college and thrilled she's going).

ahhh yeah I am extremely careful with very fresh white belts, especially with guys. They tend to use 100% strength and don't know how to manage it. I got hurt like that before, and am not repeating the mistakes, so I simply don't roll with them until they get some more experience. Better to avoid injuries that way...
I want to train, but I cannot afford to be hurt over and over. The last time I got injured the instructor was there to see it and rightfully called my partner out for it. I was still injured though.
People tend to try and roll with people of equal skill and experience too, so new people like me get stuck with other new people. Then I get kneed in the ear, my arm is tweaked, etc. It's just not a good situation.
The only option I've considered is paying a higher belt to roll with me even though they normally would not, and then I'd learn in a safer environment and more quickly.
