Absolutely, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit bummed about the introduction of dMania.
I do agree that meme's are the more popular medium over longposts. It's a more personal disappointment, because I personally love the quality of content here, and the encouragement to do better. DMania lowers the bar greatly.
But the beauty of Steemit lies in it's decentralized and community-driven development, and you said it best -
And if the community votes up a single meme, regardless of our personal opinions about it, well, the market has spoken.
If that's how it is, who am I to be the grump that tells people they shouldn't. 😆 I do however respect your aim to set a better example. I feel the same way on DSound - I write a small article about every song I post, with some facts and experiences to accompany it. It feels more tasteful and genuine. Hopefully that authenticity and effort will outshine the individuals who are posting quantity over quality.
yeah - I've been doing the same with all the tracks I've posted on dSound, and have found it's actually been pretty fun to revisit and offer some commentary. often well-received, too.
Nice. Hopefully we can keep that universal standard up high!
