"Caught up in a thinking shoe"-42x30cm pencil on paper
There is a big problem with smart people: they tend to always overthink. Where there’s a great deal of smartness , there is also an undertone of stupidity. A smart person probably said that.
You know the facts, but somehow, being all smart and that, you have to twist and turn and rethink them all over again. I belong to this wonderful species of homo sapiens overthinkus. And I must confess that many of our kind get so tired inside our own thoughts. People think that this wonderful capacity of thinking is liberating, giving us the freedom to make choices and act for ourselves. Well, ovethinking does the opposite: it’s making you feel trapped inside your head, you stop seeing things so clearly, there is blur everywhere and you end up making poor choices.
If you were to leave matters to be solved in a simple manner, following your gut, just like you thought at the beginning, before you could tap into you overthinking mode, you would have been so much better. Thinking is a shoe which we will wear for the rest of our lives and being stuck in one ain’t no picnic.
Have a great day and toodle loo!
I guess I'm homo sapiens overthinkus too hahaha, nice to know we're not alone
Hahah yes, we are not alone, thank you for reading!
Your argument is valid, and I think it is cool being an overthinker, the secret is learning how to be one but integrate it to other one's components and use it to achieve that which others might not since with the overthinking brain many perspectives about a situation are more apparent than they are to an average thinker so in a way I think if harnessed it can be a gift, but in those cases where it is not one amounts to nothing but dreams which remain as such.
Hey! Yes, overthinking can have some advantages as it takes so much time to twist the situation on all of its sides. Thank you very much for reading and leaving such a well thought reply!
There once lived a woman who lived in a shoe, she had so many women, I mean kids, she didn't know what to do. So she started thinking thinking like Winnie The Pooh thinks really hard.
And henceforth and forevermore, the shoe became known as the thinking shoe ahaha, that is what came to my mind when I saw your title to this post, I thought about that woman with all of her children.
The one thing that helps when I'm overthinking like a Harry Potter on a train of libraries is routine. Chores helps free the mind. So, I make sure to give myself some time to watch something fun and to relax.
Some people should think more and other people should put to action what they're thinking or find a distraction to disrupt the rage of proton and electrons inside their nuggets of a skull. Finding that right balance between thinking and not thinking is music to my ears. Oh, that reminds me, comedy, music, dance, art, sports, can all help a person find some balance for the human computer.
hahaha funny story with the woman lol.
Finding that right balance between thinking and not thinking is music to my ears.
The same goes with me. It is all about balance. A balance in the mind will result in a balanced reality
As usual, thank you for reading Joey!
Hahahaa yes thanks. When I need balance, I take a nap to get reset and sometimes have crazy dreams, interesting dreams, I usually feel better afterwards, I'm able to see and hear better, having peace and quiet can help put things back to the root of all things.
Dreaming is helping the brain to relax. After some dreams you can feel energized. Some can be so cool and colorful for me that I wish I could wake up and paint them instantly
I don't dream black and white, always colors, but some say they see no colors in dreams either sometimes or never ever.
Nice, I also dream quite colorful😍
Nice
You know the facts, but somehow, being all smart and that, you have to twist and turn and rethink them all over again.
You're describing the midwit! lol
Higher than average intelligence, but not smart enough to realize how smart they aren't.
Intelligent people keep things simple.
Midwits try to confuse, to try and appear smart.
I think what your so called "midwits" lack is training on systems thinking. I think those who know how to simplify everything at one point were the "midwits" but through experience they get to learn as Steve Jobs puts it..."simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."
...the midwit psychology isn't structured in logic (systems thinking), but in insecurity. They are clever enough to know they are not overly clever (but extremely socially adept, and very good at cooperation).
That's why collectivism is an attractive proposition to them.
Their 'will to power' can be realized most efficiently in this way.
Unfortunately it's regressive in terms of societal development.
You'll never make a dog read Shakespeare - but he's not insecure about it, because he's not intelligent enough to grasp the concept on what he's missing out on.
The midwit ?... they do have enough intelligence to grasp 'what they are missing'.
Alright, I appreciate you going all in and expounding on the psychological aspects of what it is to be a midwit.
Also checked your latest update and in a way the psychological anguish it causes to some is much needed. Some of course will ignore it and choose to merely exist and others will try to learn something from it.
About me am not sure what I am though, I subscribe rather to individualism, and I going through your article I didn't feel the psychological anguish.
Actually made me realize how much more I have to learn about.
We are all a product of our own past , and the psychology of who we are now, is the culmination of all that.
Ergo, that's the important part to look at. (dealing directly with the foundations, not the facade).
Yup, you can't fake courage, once the question is asked directly - You can 'pretend at being brave' if the questions are never asked . (that's very easy).
If you don't realize how much you still have to learn, you're really screwed.
My own stupidity amazes me sometimes! lol
I concur, our past and environment shape us more than we at times like to acknowledge.
I just recently started on that journey, trying to find that lost self, make peace with my past, get to fully comprehend why I manifest some behaviours and finally get to reintegrate that to who I am.
I think the ego sometimes is too big to even realize that which we don't really know, definitely requires courage to go through the destruction of the perceived self in order to create a new more anchored and aware self.
I think the ego sometimes is too big to even realize that which we don't really know,
My interpretation is different.(staying on the Freudian paradigm)
The ego is misunderstood.
The ego negotiates between the super ego (parental values mostly), and the ID (the 'I want'- which possess no moral value).
Modern day (incorrect) interpretations place the ego at the center of the decision making, not the negotiator between the two other component parts.
I've written few post about this if you be bothered searching for them!lol - in the last 6 months.
Your statement would indicate the (imo) incorrect framing of the ego. A common mistake.
Your statement would indicate the ID having a louder and more influential voice over the superego. (not the ego, if you see what I mean)
It's all 'shades off.
(I think I may have done a poor job expalining it- sorry if that's the case - my lack of caffeine, and hunger, makes my replies very truncated!lol)
definitely requires courage to go through the destruction of the perceived self in order to create a new more anchored and aware self.
I'd say (personally) that to see it in those terms, is not the best perspective. Don't try to destroy anything, but accept everything - the good and bad - and then work with the material you have - new material that's been formed out of those thought process...
( I really need to go and get some food! lol)
If you don't realize how much you still have to learn, you're really screwed....Amen to that! This is one of the most important things that all of us have to realize: how much work there is still left to be done on ourselves. Daily!
A great quote. I value simplicity
I so agree with this! A sort of a snob with a sniff of high intelligence yes....Things can be very simple but only people manage to complicate them. Thank you for reading, Einstein is one of my favourite people when it comes to simplifying things
