As those that regularly check out my posts know, I lost most of my process pictures when loosing my phone containing them ALWAYS BACKUP PEOPLE So I have been uploading a lot of single picture drawing posts. As I don understand that this makes the post less entertaining to see/read I've decided to include short (sometimes fictional) stories to single photo posts from now on.
A self portrait in death

Times were rough, countries were at war over the most meaningless of things... Heck... I can't even remember what started it... I vaguely remember it having to do something with a pissing contest between an orange potato and an grumpy Asian midget, but who knows... after all these years my brain is no longer what it used to be. All I know is this country had nothing to do with it, neither did many other countries... We all just got dragged in and are all equally fucked.
Lately air raid warnings have unconsciously been categorized as "background noise" by my brain. We all used to run for cover within seconds after the warning sounded... But you can see people have given up, now when the warning sounds people sigh look at each other saying with their eyes "Sigh... here it goes again.. maybe this one will finally be the last" finish what they are doing and slowly walk to a designated safe place.
I can't even bother no more. I have a bar to run, I've been looted one to many times during the warning and stock is already scarce. These days when the warning sounds it's usually just me, old man Rufus (I suspect he even sleeps here in a dark corner, I've just started to consider him part of the furniture) and one or two other people that just were to lazy to get up.
According to the news the bombs were being dropped closer and closer to our city, so it will just be a matter of time now... People have started to flee, but flee where? The world is burning, the parts that are not are contaminated by nuclear fallout... there is no more running...
Then the warning came... Not the usual warning, so my mind did not push it back. It was a voice... it was the voice of our mayor... Was that rascal still here? I did not like the prick... I didn't vote for him... I assumed the little weasel had run off the first chance he got...
"My dear friends and citizens, I speak to you from our beloved city"
(The bunkery echo, and the military sounds in the background proved showed he was lying as Military had pulled back to slightly saver zones months ago)
"times are bad... I wish I had good new... or even slightly better news... But I don't... my dear fellow citizens"
(fucking weasel...)
"I fear we have come to an end, last night our last line of defense the missile defense system has been sabotaged engineers are working on it as fast as they can. Sadly for us dear citizens it will be to late, as of this morning a nuclear warhead has targeted our beloved city and has already passed the range of our defense system. Those who still have working cars try to evacuate, those who do not try to get to as far underground as you can. To everyone... Good lock and god speed"
One thing is for sure... That weasel was not getting my next vote.
I walked up to the window and looked outside expecting a shit storm of chaos, but other than 3 cars leaving it was quiet... I guess people were just sick of this place and what it had become...
I stare at the horizon where a spot of light appeared and was moving quickly towards our city. The closer it gets the easier it is to see our doom is near.
I look at old man Rufus and think to myself One more whiskey...
How do you like my new format? Do you prefer this over just a single image?
And how about that lovely self portrait?
Let me know.
