@techslut... do you also read / speak Aramaic ? I am working my way through the Sefer ha Zohar and have lots of questions between these 2 languages.

No, I do not. It's not a very useful language. Also, I am leaving the whole Kabbalah thing for when i am older, wiser and retired. :)

At least 40

When I first started learning from scratch, I searched the internet for a reading that was slow enough for me to make the connections between new symbols and the sounds connected to them. Most read so fast that there was no way to embed the knowledge because it flew by so fast. I read Hebrew every day but I don't have anyone correcting me. I think you would agree that nobody is ever done learning the deep, rich, meaning of Hebrew as written in the Tanakh.

I have to comment, your English sounds as if you were a native speaker. Did you learn both as a child?

No, I was actually born in the USSR so my mother tongue is Russian. Came to Israel at age 7, learned Hebrew within about 6 months. English sort of stuck to me because I am a scifi loving geek, and I discovered the Internet at age 13. The rest is history. I guess I have a knack for languages.

And if you ever feel like speaking Hebrew, look me up on Skype. Same account name as here. :)
