I'm saying no to anyone who would be 70 or older entering their Presidency. It is too dangerous to the country to elect someone with a high risk to lose mental acuity.
I'm fairly agnostic on Snowdons actions, but I also am not in favor of electing any more people who are in debt to Putin.
You make a very good point. There should be an age limit for sure. I mean just look at Trump... the dude obviously has dimentia, but what do you expect from an over 70 yrs old with a disgusting diet of MacDonalds and Diet Coke.
As for Snowden, yeah he does owe Russia a debt. I really think they should allow him to come home tho. The american people are also in debt to him. What he did took balls.
Health is a bigger factor than age, in my opinion. I think even though bernie is old as fuck, he is still very electable and very well spoken.
And people vote more for character than anything. Even if he showed signs of dementia I think he wouldn't lose his character and his kindness for the working people.
And he hasn't showed any signs of dementia, besides repeating himself a lot. But that's sort of his thing.
I supported Bernie in the last election. I support his principles today. If he were in office today obviously I think things would be much better. However he is 76 years old right now, he would be 79 at inauguration. He would be 83 before he completed his first term and 87upon completion of a second term. The presidency is a huge responsibility and it ages people faster. For that reason I would personally prefer to vote for people in their 50s-60's rather than those in their 70s. This excludes a lot of otherwise great candidates including Sanders, Warren, and Biden.
Bernie has inspired many people to run for lower offices. In 10-15 years you may be seeing a lot of younger Bernie like candidates running for office. In the mean time a lot of more traditionally more centrist candidates will be shifting to support Bernie's policies like single payer health care.
Why would you seriously pose this question if it didn't come from a reputable source? Did Senator Sanders propose the idea? No. Did the Democratic Party propose it? No. Good journalism means asking relevant, material questions ... not giving voice to every lame brained idle thought out there.
Next time around, are you going to ask us if Donald Trump will dump Pence and run with David Duke in 2020?
I keep saying this, but Trump was clearly a peculiar individual already when he started campaigning. The fact that people refused to acknowledge this in order to be able to vote him and look at themselves in the mirror, either because they really liked his so-called ideas, or because they hoped he would stir up the political grounds enough to have a better future, or yet because they hated Hillary even more, doesn't mean that this alleged dementia is going to change anything. It's not like anybody could ever say "See? He has dementia now but he was perfectly fine when I voted him, that's why things are going so bad". Nope, the signs were all there, his speeches made no sense, he kept changing idea more often than he changed socks, he didn't know how to articulate a sentence that didn't contain basic language, such as "big" "great" "good" and "bad".
If we're honest about this, then we can discuss if a 78 year-old guy, a very experienced and active one, can be safely elected president.
I think I would find this suggestion by your viewer funny if it wasn’t for the nauseating coverage this past week about Oprah thinking about running for president in 2020. In the past I have dismissed this as nonsense (because every four years there is someone who suggests Oprah should run for office) but … Donald J Trump is our president. Due to the fact that many of us are so outrage fatigued, I no longer am sure I can trust my fellow left-leaning United States citizens to make good choices. Thank you for NOT talking about the 2020 elections (please warn us when the time is near), thank you for NOT talking about Oprah this past week (unless I missed it), and while we wait for the looming craziness that the 2020 campaign will most certainly bring, I think thoughtful discussion needs to be made about the difference between the cult of personality and actual policies.
The way I see it, no matter who is chosen as the democratic presidential candidate in 2020 (Bernie or otherwise) I am sure they will find a way to destroy him/her by using Trumps playbook of 2016 (Note that I really am assuming that Trump will not run again in 2020 because I, as a clinical therapist, truly believe he is in the early stages of dementia). Looking at his playbook, it almost seems predictable what they will do: whatever we are legitimately accusing members of the Trump/Pence administration of, they will turn around and accuse the Democratic candidate of as well. Your viewer is right – it is a great possibility that they will not only accuse Bernie of cognitive decline, they will accuse him of collusion with Russia and god knows what else. The media needs to come up with a plan – and as you suggested earlier this week - perhaps take some lessons from Dutch reporters.
"Pacifist" Bernie supported the 1999 invasion of Serbia. Thousands of innocent people died here in that American "humanitarian" intervention that allegedly was carried out to prevent war crimes, whilst there were just skirmishes and isolated border incidents.
The result is the semi-independent state of Kosovo, where actual war criminals are ruling, and even the today's Western countries have issues with Kosovar criminal government which refuses foundation of a court for their war crimes. It is a total mess. This is what many pacifists and liberals rooted for. I saw explosions daily and saw dead people, victims of the US Democratic Party humanitarian interventionism.
David are you afraid of the optics?? I don't get it? Do you have this problem with Chelsea Manning running?

I am definitely in favor of Snowden being able to come home... electing him to high office, not so sure about that.

I totally agree. I wish there were some electable younger candidates but no one really comes to mind.
If there was like a 50 year old version of Bernie that'd be perfect

Great post..thanks for sharing...i liked it...keep it up..and god bless u dear
Why would Sanders do that? He could not be elected on that ticket.
Nice
After the Trump dump on America I don't see a problem with these super heros coming in to save us.
Never going to happen. Snowden--as great as he is--will not help anyone get elected.
Had to be a joke, in our dreams.
If you've ever watched the john oliver snowden interview or the movie you'd see he really does have the interests of the american people in mind.
That being said, there's no way he's electable.
If bernie/warren ran they would win, especially if trump is the right's frontrunner.

Well don’t know about Snowden but I will definitely vote for Bernie.
I dont like it either
great job thanks a lot @davitpakman I'll look forward your next post

Perhaps my understanding is incorrect, but I don't believe their ideologies are compatible.
Please. Trump would destroy these monkeys.
