Health is a bigger factor than age, in my opinion. I think even though bernie is old as fuck, he is still very electable and very well spoken.
And people vote more for character than anything. Even if he showed signs of dementia I think he wouldn't lose his character and his kindness for the working people.
And he hasn't showed any signs of dementia, besides repeating himself a lot. But that's sort of his thing.
I supported Bernie in the last election. I support his principles today. If he were in office today obviously I think things would be much better. However he is 76 years old right now, he would be 79 at inauguration. He would be 83 before he completed his first term and 87upon completion of a second term. The presidency is a huge responsibility and it ages people faster. For that reason I would personally prefer to vote for people in their 50s-60's rather than those in their 70s. This excludes a lot of otherwise great candidates including Sanders, Warren, and Biden.
I totally agree. I wish there were some electable younger candidates but no one really comes to mind.
If there was like a 50 year old version of Bernie that'd be perfect
Bernie has inspired many people to run for lower offices. In 10-15 years you may be seeing a lot of younger Bernie like candidates running for office. In the mean time a lot of more traditionally more centrist candidates will be shifting to support Bernie's policies like single payer health care.
