So why not do the same with the DTube UI?! This is what ScotTube is about! And the good news is that it's gonna wayyy easier than Nitrous to set up and host, because DTube is a static application.
Hi @heimindanger, are these clones of your site still hosted by your domain, or are they totally seperate websites? The reason I'm asking is that d.tube is completely blocked in Australia, we can't access it at all. Our government has told all the ISP's in Australia to geoblock it, after the Christchurch massacre in NZ. Are you aware of this and is there any potential from your end to appeal this censorship?

Btw, If you do only step 2 and step 4, you can get a fully working DTube clone (without scot). DTube is a static app and easy to host anywhere.
You can even download the https://github.com/dtube/production and just open the index.html from your pc... it should work. Maybe you'll need to click the logo to get the homepage to display but then everything should work.
hmmm, now you have me thinking. problem is I have absolutely zero technical skills. Might need to find a fellow aussie that could set up our own dtube for here. If a content creator posted on d.tube and tagged a seperate sight (hypothetically aus.tube), would the post appear on both? Sorry if its a dumb question, I am trying to get my head around stuff I have no skills in.

The cost for setting up is about 3000 ENG + potential monthly subscription for maintenance. Do we have enough video authors for making this worth it?

Yeah, fair point, it works out to be almost AUD $700 to set up, plus ongoing costs. Don't know if its economically viable, but It's interesting...

I just watched a dtube video from Australia. I can only assume I changed my DNS some time in the past to get around the blacklist.
I can watch videos from other front ends, but the d.tube site itself is blocked. Can't post or access there (unless you know how to use DNS, or VPN or some other voodoo technical magic I don't understand)

It's actually really simple to change your DNS. Just follow this - https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-change-dns-servers-in-windows-2626242
Use the DNS numbers used in there (8.8.8.8 etc) as they are the google dns servers that will bypass the national firewall.
If you don't want Google monitoring every DNS lookup you make, Quad9 offers an equivalent, free DNS server at 9.9.9.9 . 😉

@jk6276 I am in Australia and I can access D.tube just fine... What ISP are you with? I am with Telstra and can access every aspect of the site quite fine.

This is such a good project... by making it super easy to use, you get all the great (but non-technical) minds "just" start doing things. it'll help the whole ecosystem!

Also, why is this claimed to be "easy to understand"? I'm computer literate, even blockchain literate, but this post was completely impossible to relate to.
3Speak is the only YouTube competitor that I'm aware of. DTube and BitChute are just mirrors sites for videos hosted elsewhere.

I'm unable to claim my drutter account at DTube. I recently spent a few hours trying.
The "Please Wait" icon just turned and turned, for an hour. Nothing ever happened. I tried logging in, but it said my account doesn't exist.
So, I rebooted and tried the whole thing again. Same result, I jump through all the hoops and then the site fails to create my account. DTube suggests "Read our game changing v0.9 update article!", but it's a bad link, taking me instead to the Steem profile page of @curator.
Your lackluster performance and effort are noted. Your market share is being lost quickly to 3Speak and BitChute. It's a free market, now. You have to compete if you want to survive.
Thanks for trying, but that won't help me. In fact, it may have cost me my account, unfortunately.
When the site failed to create my account yesterday, even after waiting almost an hour with the icon spinning endlessly, I confirmed it by trying to log in with the key. It said "account does not exist". I rebooted and tried again. It failed again. Each time I tried, I shredded the old key in my paper shredder, and wrote down the new key. Each time the key was confirmed to not work, I discarded it. Thus, I only have the most recent key saved. If that isn't the one which is now associated with the account you manually made for me, I will forever be locked out the next time I restart my PC. :-/
In the meantime, I have tried to upload a video to DTube, and it worked. But it also uploaded a copy to Steem, where I've already got a copy (via YouTube yesterday). Why does it post on Steem, as well as DTube? I thought you had separated yourself and made your own blockchain, and own token? Why then are you duplicating posts?
Also, why is "DTube" the only category for videos, still? That never should have been the case. At the very least it should have been fixed with this latest upgrade.
I deleted the Steem post, but that deleted the DTube post too! At least, it appeared to... because in my DTube channel page, no videos are showing up! Where are my dozens of videos that I've uploaded to your site over the past 2 years? There is not even a thumbnail left of them now?
Next, I tried your new URL upload feature, to bring the YouTube video directly onto DTube.
But again, it showed up on Steem, where it's a duplicate. My viewers won't be happy about that, and I may get downvoted and lose subscribers because of it.
But on DTube there's still nothing showing:
My PC is working well on other sites, so I don't think it's my system or browser causing the above issues.
DTube says I have 1093 VP, and it goes up when I vote on things. Why does it go up, not down? What is VP? What happens when it gets to 0? My voting power is set to 100%, but it didn't use all my VP. Why is it a test coin? If it's worthless, how does it double the rewards? Why don't you answer any of these questions in your post about it? You seem focused on telling people they will get rich "double your rewards!" but not really explain what that means, or deliver on your promise. Is DTube a real site, or just a joke hobby in your spare time? Seriously. It's like you write things completely randomly, hoping people go along with it, and hoping nobody notices that it's all complete nonsense. I don't want "double the tokens". I just want somewhere I can upload and watch videos. Is that still too much to ask, as the years go by??
And as I said, it may not matter at all, because through no fault of my own I may have already lost control of my account. :-/
