RE: MATRIARCHY & PATRIARCHY - THE OPPRESSION OF MEN - FINDING THE BALANCE- A STONE LEFT UNTURNED

in #ecotrain7 years ago (edited)

Ok, i will try to explain the 70¢ on every dollar number more simply.

Who should make more? A or B

ABexplanation
40 hours of work40 hours of work + 20 hours of overtime?Men work 90%+ of the overtime
part time workerfull time workerWomen are much more likely to choose part time work
nice air conditioned Office workerout in the elements always Construction workerMen work 95% of dirty, hot/cold construction jobs.
General doctorBrain surgeonMen overwhelmingly train for higher paid specialities.
Accountant at mining companyMiner for mining companyWhen it comes to the dirtiest, toughest jobs is almost all men.

The 70¢ on every dollar is comparing column A with column B.

So, "women make 70¢ for every dollar a man makes" is true.
But, "Women are making 70¢ for doing the same work" is untrue.

If you actually compare apples to apples, women are making 107¢ for doing the same work.
Such as, if you compare all the female elementary school teachers with all the male elementary school teachers.

Remember the hubbub about CNN female workers complaining they weren't paid enough? So, an independent accountant went through the books and found that men needed to be paid more to bring things into balance.

Your comment indicates that you would like women to be paid to have babies.
However, pay is something that puts food on the table.
Making something, growing food, shipping that food.

Growing babies does not put food on the table. Yes, it may be important for the future of humanity, but having a baby doesn't mean you will starve slower, it means you will starve faster.

So, you are arguing for resources to be taken from men and given to women, so they can have babies.
The only problem with your plan is that most men get NOTHING for it.
It used to be the arrangement was a women found a man to support her, and in exchange for sex and babies, he gave his hard labor.
Now, he is having his hard labor stolen from him, and he gets NOTHING.

Sometimes its worse than nothing. Too often it is a man gets into a sexless marriage, where he is raising another man's child, all while he is emotionally abused for not providing enough. (1 in 4 children are not the father's. According to blood technician in hospital)
