Top 20 once again... it was a fairly good week, apparently. The score is still way too low, though. I guess my ranking has a lot to do with the number of votes I cast... 1351. Compared to others that is a whole lot...
I feel I need to start studying on how to maximize curation rewards. All those months in the leagues, and I haven't made it to the list even once. That number of votes might be an indicator: too many small votes that bring in nothing... I'll need to reconsider my voting habits, I guess...

The number of votes you cast is likely the reason for not making the top 100. For the sake of half a STEEM each week, I think your approach is very gallant :)

My rewards are pretty duff too considering my SP, but I don't worry about that - giving the out to many is much more rewarding in other ways :)
That's exactly what I replied to someone else a couple of minutes ago: spreading the love and appreciation is worth a lot more than earning curation rewards... Maybe not the smartest move if you want to grow your account, but it feels a lot better :0)
Well put @simplymike and well done. It's actually an interesting time to be on Steemit now. You can see who is more community minded when crypto is plunging. Definitely a lot of love being spread which, hopefully, pays in the long run
It's all gonna change next month, curation wise, so maybe you will get there then. I seem to make it one week, miss it the next week, but vote power is down for everyone so I can't claim that as the reason. But congrats on getting back in the top 20. People like the votes, big or small, people like us like to give votes big or small, and comments big or small. People appreciate the fact that some one saw them.

I'm not entirely sure I already fully understand the concept - although I've read all @flauwy's articles about it.
Maybe I should go back to a better technical school, so I would get better at understanding how such things work.

The trail exists, but @flauwy is expanding it and working on it to make it more profitable for everyond. I can really suggest you head ovdr to his blog and read his posts about it.
I think I get the basic idea, but some time soon I'll have to be bold and ask him if he can lay it out in a one on one conversation, using language (and drawings, don't forget the drawings) like he would be talking to a 6 year old...

I hit 59 only a couple of hours after i wrote that coment, lol. It'll be a long way to 60. I see so many people who started out the same time as me now have a 61 or 62 rep score.
A lot of them have sugardaddies: support from dolphins or orcas, whos votes help you to build that rep faster.
So far, I haven't found such a sugardaddy yet - I don't know what you need to to or be to get one, but apparently I am not desirable enough, lol.
Fortunately, I do have a nutri-sweet-daddy. I assume I don't even have to explain who it is, lol

I was really hoping I had a decent curation score in the bag this week. I think I upvote comments a little too much even more so these days to try get them to be at least 2 cents.
During my first couple of months, I spent most of my VP on upvoting comments. I wanted to thank people for taking the time to reply to my.posts. but after a while I noticed I didn't have any voting power left to upvote the posts I really liked.
So, now I only upvote extraordinary comments.
Lots of people are doing the same, because back in November, you could earn some good money by leaving comments. That has changed a lot.
I have been trying to figure that out all month. Even raised to get above dust, but that reduced the total vote count. I don't know the answer unless its a trail that you have to follow. If you figure it out let me know

I must admit I follow quite a couple of trails with a low VP. The reason I follow them is because I want to support others (for example: I follow(ed) the @newbieresteemday trail, the hiv trail,...)
As a result, you cast a lot of votes that are actually worth nothing. And that is not helping anyone. So I am going to cut back on the curation trails. Maybe follow just one of a person that scores high in the list, and follow that person with 50 to 70%, instead of all the small ones with 5 to 10%.
The thing is I want to keep supporting the little guys...
Guess I still have a lot of experimenting to do :0)

most of my votes go on comments and I don't think there is any return there, but its important to support the ones who comment and support you. Nothing worse than making a comment and being ignored
