Previously, I talked about 8+ AWESOME Tv Shows To Watch In 2018. This time, I picked 5 movies that will make you think - either about its story plot, life or love. Amongst them, you can find Sci-Fi, mystery, drama and adventure. Ready to pick your favourite, get the popcorn, sit back and relax?
Mr Nobody
In the future year of 2092, where humans found the recipe for immortality, Nemo Nobody is 118 years old, the last mortal to accept diyng naturally. When a reporter comes in his hospital room to ask questions about his life, he tell us the story of his rather rich past. As he goes through the choices he had to make in the past, he navigates through different paths he could’ve taken - each would lead him to totally different lives. Which one is the right one?
This is one of my favourite movies ever. I watched it about 5 times and each time I do, there’s something new about it or something I can learn. From its gorgeous visuals to its profound philosophical questions, this movie is nothing but unique, rich, original and memorable. It doesn’t follow the usual narrative structure, so it’s probably not of everyone’s taste, but if you’re looking for a deep thoughtful experience, you will enjoy this one.
The Prestige
This Mystery Drama happens in 1878, when two young magicians work together through their stage magic career, until something tragic happens. From that moment, they become rivals, battling to deceive one another and prove their illusionism, doing whatever it takes.
I wasn’t expecting too much of this movie before I watched it. I was definitely impressed, though. It’s the kind of movie that keeps you ‘stuck to the screen’ from start to finish - it’s so mysterious, magical and intense. Unexpected things happen through it, specially towards the end. I’m the kind of person that tries to guess what’s going to happen in the unroll of events, but my guesses didn’t work with this picture. It takes us to a whole new engaging script in the world of illusionism. Watching it is a must - it’s very entertaining, catching and brilliantly well made.
Predestination
Predestination is a Sci-Fi Mystery that tells the story of Ethan Hawke, a Temporal Agent that travels through time to prevent criminal events in the past and future. His last and ultimate assignment is to stop one event that happened in 1975 New York, where a suicide bomber attack takes the lives of thousands of people.
If you read my last Entertainment article, you probably know that Sci-Fi, Futuristic and Time Travel related shows are my favourite types. Hence why I got interested on this one. The start of the movie is very contextual, presenting the character and his mission. While he tries to complete the mission, he starts finding out things he didn't know about his life, attracting our curiosity and attention. I feel like this is a good entertaining movie, as it puts us in a position of trying to solve the mystery, before its shown to us.
Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind
Joel and Clementine have opposite personalities. They were once a couple which relationship failed. After the love failure, Clementine decides to erase all her memories of Joel, going through an experimental procedure. When Joel finds out, he also wants to erase Clementine of his memory. While Joel's procedure is being done, he reaches to his memories to find out the true reasons why he fell in love for Clementine.
This mind-bending movie is rich, powerful and intense. While we go through Joel and Clementine's relationship, with all its highs and lows, we realize how fragile and deep love is. It's a movie that appeals to the heart but also to the mind, making you think about your own life and relationships.

Interstellar
In a future where Earth is devastated, human-race is trying to find a way of survival. Scientists believe that the solution for saving humanity is in a wormholes' portal, that connects our world to parallel worlds. A team of explorers are sent to the space to fly through the portal, hoping that they will find an habitable world where humans can live.
Though I appreciate Sci-Fi movies, I'm very picky when it comes to movies in Space. I wasn't going to watch this movie until a friend recommended it by mentioning - "It's not like other Space movies". So I decided to give it a go. I'm glad I did! First things first - The visuals and soundtrack are brilliant. The acting is perfect and the story plot is original and captivating. This movie is more than science and technology - it's also about family, relationships and the will to survive.
Have you watched any of these movies? If you did, what's your opinion of them? Do you know any other good movies that made you think? Let me know in the comments.

Muito Obrigada ❤️❤️ Precisa assistir, é diferente do que estamos acostumadas :)***
I just love movies that make you think during the movie and after. That you just want to talk for hours after and discuss the movie. Haven't seen Mr Nobody and thanks for the tip! I would like to mention a couple of movies that would fit your list:
1.Memento - Movie about a man who doesn't remember anything, but he keeps finding guiding notes that he left for himself with the hints of the past ..
2.City of God - Brazilian movie about lives of the people, gangs, children situated in temporary housing near Rio de Janiero
3.A scanner darkly - a movie about a detective investigating drugs placed in future. Directed in a very strange way.
4.Shutter Island - I still believe that Leo was set up!
Cheers!
Thank you so much for your comment and suggestion. I love this type of movies for the same reason, they give you so much more than just entertainment. They give a reason to think about life in general and actually enjoy it afterwards too! If you like movies like that, you def should watch Mr. Nobody :)
That's a really good list. I watched Memento and City of God. Shutter Island's been on my watchlist for ages and I feel ashamed for not having watched it yet! I will watch it soon for sure. :)
Great post! Hard to pick a favourite from this list, all very good movies. Magnolia is meant to be good, but haven't watched that yet. Have you?
Thank you! Haven't watched it either. Will see, thank you for the suggestion!
A good list, a 1 I have not seen and 1 I have avoided on purpose, I would like to also nominate another that is brilliant in my opinion and that is "The Limehouse Golem" ... I will now go watch the one I have not seen. :)
Which one is the one you are avoiding? :) Thank you for the suggestion, I will look it up!!
The Prestige, I did not like the movies poster image, and it has a woman in between them on the poster so no reason to watch the movie then.
I have only seen one out of the movie you listed IE interstellar. Yes is was 😎.
The Prestige and Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind are two of my absolute favorite films.
They’re both amazing movies!!! ❤️
Checkout Godless on Netflix ....my guess is it will be number 6 on your list of great movies.
You got my attention there!! Are you talking about the Godless TV Show (the western one)?
