This brightly colored mural was part of a special exhibit at the Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa. With or without the grandkids this is a wonderful experience.
The museum features the fish and animals, history, culture and ecosystem of the River.

Very cool artwork. My kids and wife have been to Dubuque several times but I never got to make the trip. Guess what for...junior hockey tryouts haha That was a lot of our travel while the kids were growing up

I believe this was part of a special exhibit about the Amazon. 'There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of ....’ Although maybe it is imaginary? I do not know!
There are some pretty incredible creatures in the Amazon. I wouldn't be surprised if these are all based on real fish.
Have you heard of the Boto? It's a pink river dolphin that lives in the Amazon. :-)
I have seen that dolphin on tv documentaries, but I had forgotten what they were called. I tried to look up what a fish with tentacles around its mouth might be called, but I didn't come up with anything.

It is painted, and if I remember right it was painted onto the wall, rather than onto a big canvas. The hallway that it was in was narrow, and made it impossible to get a shot of the entire wall of fish, so I had to take photos of segments.
