RE: Celebrating October

in #esteem6 years ago

My granddaughter brought me a pumpkin and that is my one decoration. It is sitting out on the front steps. I will probably roast it after Halloween is over and make pumpkin pies. I'm not much into carving jack-o'-lanterns these days. The trick or treaters like to stay in neighborhoods where the houses are close together and there are many children and their parents out on the sidewalks. I have never had a trick-or-treater come to my door in the 20 years that I have lived here. I'm too far out in the deep dark woods! In the past I've lived in neighborhoods where I have had over a hundred trick or treaters come to the door on Halloween night. It is fun to see all the kids dressed up in their costumes.

I'm sure that with that pumpkin there will be a delicious cake. There is not that Halloween tradition here, but it must be great to have kids asking for candy at the door.

When my children were growing up we lived out in the country. So on Halloween we would go to my mother's house where they would put on their costumes and we would go trick or treating in my old neighborhood where I had gone trick-or-treating as a child. It was fun to go door-to-door and see all the old neighbors and introduce them to my children. So besides getting candy it became a very social evening for me. Lots of good memories.

I'm sure it was really nice to go door to door and remember your childhood. The best of all are those memories❤
