And there are pumpkin displays everywhere

Some people even celebrate the season while driving down the road!

And there are a few really large decorations!

BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
(from Macbeth)
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

Great an appropriate bit of verse. Do they still read Macbeth in school I wonder? Love that first classic jack-o-lantern

I can't imagine going to school with out learning an appreciation for fine literature. They must teach Shakespeare, right?

I hope so! :)

Nice photos, my dear Melinda. It looks like some people started to celebrate Halloween veey early this year. 🎃
I have a nice pumpkin ready to be carved however someone is not decided. Would it be a spooky jack-o-lantern or a friendly face? Should we use a colored candle or a white one (I know...tried to explain but the reply was brutal: "the candle color needs to match the pumpkin")? I believe we will have everything prepared for a December Halloween. 🤣

I think that the entire month of October gets celebrated with Halloween decorations here. When my kids were young and carved pumpkins we always had to put a new candle in every night. And since they lit the candles 3 or 4 nights before Halloween we could use lots of different colored candles! I can't wait to see what the choice is.

very beautiful photographs. wonderful colors are vibrant and beautiful angle. this is celebration time. love your article and God bless you.

Thanks, luv!

the harvest season (pumpkin) is very good. and it's very pleasant, of course, @melinda010100.

It is a good time of year! Thank you!

you're welcome

They really like Halloween. Do you decorate your house and deliver sweets?

My granddaughter brought me a pumpkin and that is my one decoration. It is sitting out on the front steps. I will probably roast it after Halloween is over and make pumpkin pies. I'm not much into carving jack-o'-lanterns these days. The trick or treaters like to stay in neighborhoods where the houses are close together and there are many children and their parents out on the sidewalks. I have never had a trick-or-treater come to my door in the 20 years that I have lived here. I'm too far out in the deep dark woods! In the past I've lived in neighborhoods where I have had over a hundred trick or treaters come to the door on Halloween night. It is fun to see all the kids dressed up in their costumes.

I'm sure that with that pumpkin there will be a delicious cake. There is not that Halloween tradition here, but it must be great to have kids asking for candy at the door.

When my children were growing up we lived out in the country. So on Halloween we would go to my mother's house where they would put on their costumes and we would go trick or treating in my old neighborhood where I had gone trick-or-treating as a child. It was fun to go door-to-door and see all the old neighbors and introduce them to my children. So besides getting candy it became a very social evening for me. Lots of good memories.

I'm sure it was really nice to go door to door and remember your childhood. The best of all are those memories❤

The Great Pumpkin hunt. I miss living in the city only one time of the year. Halloween! Here I have not had even one trick or treater.

Love

I don't have any either. When the grandkids were little they used to come out during the day so that I could see their costumes, but now they have grown up and Halloween is just another day.

Abbi and I get dressed up and go to the park to see all the trunk treaters that also go.

Have a great day

Love

My mom and dad used to participate in a trunk or treat when they lived down on the Arkansas Missouri state line. That was the first time I had ever heard of that way of handing out candy. They don't seem to do that up here.

I like the door to door we did as a kid. Trunk or Treat seems like cheating. But I can do that with Abbi easier. And even though she is 26 she does not look to old to Trick or Treat.

Love

I'm sure that everyone is delighted to give Abbi treats!

Yes they do not understand I get to eat them treats. Lol
We mostly go to be seen and see the costumes. Of course we are in costume too.

Love

Wow, such wonderful artworks made of pumpkins! Loved it, my dear Melinda!

People carve some really elaborate pumpkins. It's always fun to see them.

Not a tradition here... so far, as I see some ordinary Halloween pumpkin masks just spread around in some places!

Do you have a Day of the Dead tradition during that time?

We do, it's November 1st. It's a holiday called the Day of all Saints, or, in Portuguese, Dia de Todos os Santos, or the day of the dead, dia dos finados. People go to the cemeteries this day!

Of course. I wish we had that here.

You don't? I thought you had it too...

You are sure setting the mood for me.
I love the pumpkin. :)

I haven't carved a pumpkin in years. Will you have a Jack O'Lantern?

usually ... so far I haven't yet this year. Fun though.

I love that Jack-O-Lantern with star eyes.

The skeleton in the car window made me laugh.

All the fun things of fall.

I loved those eyes, too! I bet that skeleton gets lots of attention while it's driving down the road.

Hope it doesn't cause some traffic mayhem.....LOL !

It looks like Halloween decorations are up! Love the skeletons in the car... The only thing better would be a hearse!

Hahaha! When I was in high school, many years ago, one of the boys had an old hearse. They played a lot of pranks with it, especially this time of year.

Jack O Smile 🎃
Fantastic decorations!!

👻 Boo Happy Halloween @melinda010100!!

Our area also has pumpkin, but it's different from the pumpkin in your area. I've seen the pumpkin in a lamp, in holiwood films. It's very pretty in appearance but a little scary because of the shape of a monster's head.

Some people dress in scary costumes on Halloween night, too. It is all meant to be a little spooky, but in a fun way.

Very good photo. Halloween must be something wonderful, here in Venezuela you do not live that, well, actually right now in Venezuela you do not live at all. In the dictatorship the people are oppressed. Have a good time and really enjoy Halloween

ha! howdy there melinda010100! hey I like that witch's tie! lol. great photos too. how are you and did the Packer's play Sunday?

Hey there! Thanks I'm glad you like the photos. That particular which has a long history with my grandkids. When we would go to the pumpkin patch that which would be hanging in the barn and when they were little they were terrified of her. I don't think she wore a tie at that time. But even so, she is always been the 'scary witch' and now that they are all teenagers they still couldn't wait to go in the barn to see the scary witch and their cell phones were out and they were all taking pictures of her. Part of the pumpkin patch tradition, I guess.
The Packers have not played this week. They had a bye. Next Sunday I think they play the Rams.

Congrats on winning the first place SBD for the c squared contest. I knew you could do it!

melinda010100! what? I don't know anything about the c-squared contest, what is it? lol. can't be the commenting because I only did that for one day.

On Discord. In announcements.

#engagement-contest winners for the week: 1st place (3 steem): @janton 2nd & 3rd places (1 steem each): @glenalbrethsen & @melinda010100

I don't get it because I didn't do hardly any commenting. I did some curie commenting, maybe the curie ones also were c-squared?

Probably they were. Well, what ever you did, do it again! Did you do Asher's biggest word stats? I say delightful a lot, apparently!

no I didn't read that post, what is it?

Skeleton say hello from the window car! ;D

He is saying hello and happy Halloween to you! 🎃☠️🎃

I enjoy looking at the way people are decorating for Halloween in your country even if we don't do that a lot in France ^_^ Well, a few years ago it was a fashion coming from USA but I have noticed it tends to disappear...the shops were full with halloween decorations and it was more something commercial than a real desire to celebrate something that is not ours, culturally speaking..I think we find that funny when the kids are young and also the young adults take this as a theme for a fiesta, but it has no real grounds by us ;-)

It is a holiday promoted by the marketers to get people to buy more. When I was a kid it consisted of carving a pumpkin, creating your own costume at home with possibly the help of your mom's sewing machine, and getting candy or apples or baked goods from your neighbors when you went trick-or-treating. We were only allowed to eat the baked goods if they came from the home of someone that my mother knew. We wore our costumes to school and in the afternoon the entire School would parade through town to show off our costumes and all of the parents and grandparents and business people would come out on the streets to watch us go past. It was quite the event! Like everything else it has become so commercial, with expensive costumes and decorations and big candy bars.
