The Woodcraft Gallery.
This is my entry for this weeks #marketfriday challenge hosted by my friend, @dswigle

The Wooden Gallery is situated on the site of the Old Butter Factory in Doepel Street, Bellingen in New South Wales, Australia.
![230hph7m1z.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://img.esteem.ws/230hph7m1z.jpg)
It is a unique shopping village which contains a cafe, a variety of shops which include Cargo Lane, Mac's Opals, a Massage Boutique, the Woodcraft Gallery, the AWL Leather Place and the Nexus Gallery which promotes the arts and is the venue for regular exhibitions.
![nodjcoueiy.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://img.esteem.ws/nodjcoueiy.jpg)
The Old Butter Factory is known as a unique arts and cultural centre and houses both specialist retailers and rare art. Many of the regions most respected artists have created their artwork here.

My visit to the Woodcraft Gallery was very enjoyable and I recognized the quality of their work at a glance.
![1rgxdny5yy.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://img.esteem.ws/1rgxdny5yy.jpg)
Many of their products were unique and the fact that they have been hand-crafted, added much to their value in my opinion.
![3vtlq0fy1y.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://img.esteem.ws/3vtlq0fy1y.jpg)
Their unique creations are made on site and they produce items such as gifts, ornaments, homewares and furniture.
![p381ovq54l.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://img.esteem.ws/p381ovq54l.jpg)
No flaw was visible on any product that I had the pleasure of viewing. Every beautifully hand-crafted piece was finished to perfection and it was obvious that a lot of care had gone into the finest detail.
![we26wwq6s2.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://img.esteem.ws/we26wwq6s2.jpg)
Just like the AWL leather products in one of the other shops, I could not resist running my fingers over the smooth glossy or satin surface of the wood.

The famous Windsong Chimes have been around since 1985. Their superior wind chimes are tuned precisely to carefully chosen musical scales and have been beautiful designed to adorn the décor of homes of many styles.
![sziesqtjyq.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://img.esteem.ws/sziesqtjyq.jpg)
Windsong Chimes graced the Sydney Harbour Bridge to celebrate its landmark 75th anniversary. The charming sound of these chimes created in the beautiful Bellingen Valley were heard by all who had the opportunity to set foot on the bridge on this occasion.

Look at the variety of wood that has been used to create these lovely mortar and pestle bowls.

Amongst the array of Australian fauna I have spotted sulfur crested cockatoos, a willy wagtail, and kookaburras.

The setting surrounding the Old Butter Factory and its wonderful shops is very picturesque and it lulls one into a relaxed shopping mindset.
And that is a dangerous scenario at the best of times because as any shopaholic will tell you, it is way too easy to spend more than you originally intended when the atmosphere works very efficiently in the retailers favour.

I absolutely LOVE places like this! SO much to see and it's always so fabulous to see the items people can make.
We live in an area here where Amish and Mennonites are prominent and they have the most beautifully crafted furniture.
I do too @goldendawne Many thanks for your welcome visit and support. Handmade products are indeed special. Have you posted any of the products you admire form the Amish and Mennonite communities before?
Thank you @pixresteemer

Great place. Love the stained glass window. The woodwork is beautiful.
Thanks @snooway Yes everything about this place oozed quality to me and I really loved the stained glass windows too. I appreciate your visit.
That looks like an interesting place. Did they have any wooden goblets? I keep breaking the glass variety... :-)
Hi @fotosdenada. I can't remember if they had any wooden goblets but they seemed to have everything else. 😊 Some of the non-breakable glasses lessens the pleasure for me if I am indulging in a glass of wine, 🍷 so a wooden goblet may be a good alternative to prevent breakages.
LOVE that beautiful shop, esp. the baby mobiles
Thank you @farm-mom glad you like it.
Very interesting shop. I am always drawn to colorful art like the stained glass windows and the baby mobiles
Me too. The small baby mobiles must be tricky to make and I do enjoy seeing stained glass art probably because there is not a lot around these days. It must be difficult to get paid enough with the hand made strained glass products due to the length of time it would take to make them.
Thanks a lot for dropping by.

You have struck a real cord (chord!) with me! Anything with wood in it is going to be a favorite on my list !! The wooden gallery is on the site of the old butter Factory? That's kind of cool itself. I can tell it's very unique just by looking at some of the products that they have. I loved those very high tables with different cutouts on them. I have to admit when I saw that they had a massage Boutique oh, I almost dropped the wood and ran for it. But then Woodcraft gallery had some really beautiful ornaments for a tree. At least that's what it looked like to me. Their work was superb looking from my distance. I liked the boomerangs and how they had everything displayed. I'm looking at the magnetic chess and the little trinkets hanging from the ceiling. I loved the framework of that incredible piece of stained glass. Handcraft I work is so pleasurable to look at.
Why does that look like stained glass that is hanging around the neck of the mannequin?
There is a definite love here be carved fruit and the lovely look that I has but my heart really does belong to those absolutely beautiful wind chimes. I have no idea how hard they are to make but I can tell you that of the ones that I have seen that are handmade the Precision used do you maintain perfect tone it's amazing. Mortar and pestle bowls are wonderful! I have one and use mine all the time. But the variety of wood and the boats and the carved birds in those beautiful wooden boxes! Now my jaw is dropping! This was absolutely incredible outing that you took us on and I want to thank you, personally for helping make Market Friday the success that it is. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you spend putting together a post.

I'm very happy you like this post Denise. Thanks so much for your wonderful response. It really is a most interesting place and if I can get the next lot of photos edited before next Friday I will share more details of the Old Butter Factory and include a few relics that were once used in the factory.
Those pendants were made of glass but I don't think they were made using the stained glass method. Don't quote me though as I cant be 100% sure. They are very pretty though, I will admit that.
Many thanks for the tip and support. I hope the week ahead will be a fabulous one for you. How many more days before you sail away?
I leave next Weekend and I am very ready and very excited! :) Thank you.
Oh......that's not too long to wait. But if your bags are packed and you've mentally boarded your ship, it will be a long time to wait 😊 The sea, the sun and all the fun of cruising awaits your pleasure. How won-der-ful!!!!!!
I am very excited about it and no I am not packed. It only takes me about 2 hours because most of the clothes are already dry cleaned and everything else is pretty much Preston ready in the closet. So it'll be a quick little throw together. Deportes not too far but we're taking a further apart than normal so it's about four hours. I think we'll live. Thank you thank you thank you and I know we'll have a great time
You are a very organized girl Denise. I pack and unpack (at least 3 times) because although I try to travel light, I can never quite achieve it. What I need is a LOT more practice. 😉
Bingo!!! I agree! I did five 10 -15 day cruises last year. Not sure how that happened!
But, I have learned to pack for three months in a couple hours!

Howdy trudeehunter! oh my gosh I love stores like that! lol. So I love this post too! So what did you buy? There's no way that you could go there and not buy something!
I told you I can walk right past chocolate in the supermarkets without missing a beat didn't I? Same goes for 'stuff' (as nice as it is) if I don't need it. I have de-cluttered to the point of having to start all over again when returning home after living in China, and am surprised at how we hoard 'things' we never use. I'm a very practical 'girl' at heart........might be one of the reasons John and I are still together after a bunch of decades. 😁
Sounds like Mrs. J. Nothing tempts her. I mean she even hates shopping. lol. Ok...well...Now you got me super curious, what were you doing in China and how long were you there??
I don't hate shopping but I know my limits. I had a feeling you were going to ask me about China. It's another long story but the simple version is this. We taught English after doing a Tesol course and did two stints which lasted 12 months in total.
Ok so you boiled down a long story into one sentence, that is a gift! lol..by "we" you mean you and John? You're both teachers? My grammar is pretty redneckish, now I'm going to be self conscious! lol.
That is a gift for one who finds herself writing long winded replies when a couple of sentences would suffice. 😊
John and I are not teachers. The Tesol (Teaching English To Speakers Of Other Languages) courses are pretty basic and it was enough to get us into China and work there for a year. Nowadays, people require degrees to qualify, so I guess we were pretty lucky to get such a wonderful opportunity to live alongside the Chinese people and experience that very interesting culture when we did.
Oh how interesting! Do you have tons of pictures and do you do posts about it? I can't imagine what that was like. Were the people wonderful and were you able to find out what their impression of America was?
I love looking around in places like this there is always something that will catch your eye especially them beautiful hand-crafted candle holders i would take a couple of them home. Thanks for sharing very well presented my friend :)
Handcrafted products are much more appealing than factory made aren't they? It's good to hear you enjoyed browsing this lovely place too my friend. Many thanks for your ongoing support. I'm very grateful.
I do love nice handcrafted products here in Thailand they really make some unbelievable handcrafted products i must see if i can find the main display shop and do a post on it , certainly would be interesting to see :)
I'd really like to see their handcrafted products, so I look out for this post. Some people are so talented with what they can make with their hands.
When i find one of these hand craft places i will let you know when i post it :)
Cool.......I will look forward to that. 😊
Cheers :)
